Because of Good Friday We Have

Victory of the Resurrection!

Some of us stay at the cross,
Some of us wait at the tomb,
Quickened and raised with Christ
Yet lingering still in the gloom.
Some ‘bide at the Passover feast
with Pentecost all unknown,
The triumphs of grace in the
heavenly place
that our Lord has made His own.
If the Christ who died had stopped at the Cross,
His work had been incomplete.
If the Christ who was buried had stayed in the tomb,
He had only known defeat,
But the way of the Cross never stops at the Cross
and the way of the tomb leads on
To victorious grace in the heavenly place
where the risen Lord has gone!

He is risen

Jesus Is Risen Alleluia!!!

I remember well my response to my first Easter. I was on fire and aglow as only a twenty-one year old convert with nothing to lose can be. I had my feet washed on Holy Thursday and wanted to give my life to service. I embraced the Cross on Good Friday and trusted that Jesus would help me carry my crosses. At the Easter Vigil, I gathered with the others around the fire and the font and loved it all.
Then came Easter Sunday morning and it was like the end of a retreat when you come down off the mountain with a thud. I walked out of church into the springtime morning and thought, "Jesus is risen! What about me?" I know now that it’s not a bad question for a disciple. Peter and the rest must have been asking the same thing. Jesus is risen. What now? What difference does it make? Faith tells us the "Jesus is risen!" is the answer to every question, the solution to every problem, the light in every darkness, the way out of every tomb.
Parents aging? Child sick? Spouse suffering?  Jesus is risen!
Ill? A lump? A cough? An ache? Old? Infirm?  Jesus is risen!
Lost your job? Failed the test? Debts ruining you?  Jesus is risen!
Got caught? Stealing? Lying? Cheating? Adultery?  Jesus is risen!
Divorce? Alcohol? Drugs? Sexual abuse?  Jesus is risen!
War? Racism? Sexism? Violence? Death of innocents?  Jesus is risen!
Vocations crisis? Dying religious orders? Abuse scandal? Jesus is risen!
We either believe it or we don’t, if we believe it, then we can believe that every death leads to new life; even the death we’re in the middle of right now.
If it is hard to believe, we’re still in good company. Remember what happened on the first Easter morning? The women went to the tomb, and finding it empty, ran to tell the apostles, "but their story seemed like nonsense and they did not believe them". It may seem like nonsense, but it’s true.
Jesus is risen, and it makes all the difference!!!

My Best Friend Murdered

Death of My Best Friend!

There was a day, as I took my walks abroad, when I came hard by a spot forever engraven upon my memory, for there I saw this friend, my best, my only Friend…. MURDERED.
I stooped down in sad affright, and looked at Him. I saw that His hands had been pierced with rough iron nails, and His feet had been rent in the same way. There was misery in His dead countenance so terrible that I scarcely dared to look upon it. His body was emaciated with hunger, His back was red with bloody scourges, and His brow had a circle of wounds about it: clearly could one see that these had been pierced by thorns.
I shuddered, for I had known this Friend full well. He never had a fault; He was the purest of the pure, the holiest of the holy. Who could have injured Him? For He never injured any man: all His life long He "went about doing good." He had healed the sick, He had fed the hungry, He had raised the dead: for which of these works did they kill Him? He had never breathed out anything else but love — and as I looked into the poor sorrowful face, so full of agony, and yet so full of love, I wondered who’ could have been a wretch so vile as to pierce hands like His.
I said within myself, "Where can these traitors live? Who are these that could have smitten such a One as this?" Had they murdered an oppressor, we might have forgiven them; had they slain one who had indulged in vice or villainy, it might have been his desert; had it been a murderer and a rebel, or one who had committed sedition, we would have said, "Bury his corpse: justice has at last given him his due."
But when Thou wast slain, my best, my only-beloved, where lodged the traitors? Let me seize them, and they shall be put to death! If there be torments that I can devise, surely they shall endure them all. Oh! What jealousy; what revenge I felt! If I might but find these murderers, what would I do with them!
The Criminal Discovered:And as I looked upon that corpse, I heard a footstep, and wondered where it was. I listened, and I clearly perceived that the murderer was close at hand! It was dark, and I groped about to find him. I found that, somehow or other, wherever I put out my hand, I could not meet with him, for he was NEARER to me than my hand would go. At last I put my hand upon MY BREAST. "I have thee now" said I — for lo! He was IN MY OWN HEART — the murderer was hiding within my own bosom, dwelling in the recesses of my INMOST SOUL. Ah! Then I wept indeed, that I, in the very presence of my murdered Master, should be harboring the murderer — and I felt myself most guilty while I bowed over His Corpse, and sang that plaintive hymn…"Twas you, MY SINS, my cruel sins, His chief tormentors were; each of my crimes became a nail, and unbelief the spear."
Amid the rabble rout which hounded the Redeemer to His doom, there were some gracious souls whose bitter anguish sought vent in wailing and lamentations, fit music to accompany that march of woe. When my soul can, in imagination, see the Savior bearing His cross to Calvary, she joins the godly women, and weeps with them; for, indeed, there is true cause for grief, cause lying deeper than those mourning women thought. They bewailed innocence maltreated, goodness persecuted, love bleeding, meekness about to die, but my heart has a deeper and more bitter cause to mourn. MY SINS were the scourges which lacerated those blessed shoulders, and crowned with thorns those bleeding brows; my sins cried — "Crucify Him! Crucify Him!" — and laid the cross upon His gracious shoulders.
His being led forth to die is sorrow enough for one eternity; but my having been His murderer, is more, infinitely more grief than one poor fountain of tears can express. If Christ has died for me, ungodly as I am, without strength as I am, then I cannot live in sin any longer, but must arouse myself to love and serve Him who hath redeemed me. I cannot trifle with the evil which slew my best Friend. I must be holy for His sake. HOW CAN I LIVE IN SIN WHEN HE HAS DIED TO SAVE ME FROM IT?

Signs of evil are back; Wayne Webster continues his counter protest

Over 200 dedicated Christians pray at mill on Good Friday and praise God, one known save

Rockford IL April 2, 2010 – It seems the infamous "signs of evil" the Rockford abortion Mill has become internationally known for were only down from the Rockford abortion clinic windows for one day and now they are back in place to mock God and life.
A few pro-lifers commented today when they saw the signs back up that they believed the clinic took the offensive pictures down from the clinic windows because those inside the mill knew the Rockford Register Star was working on a story this week about the bubble zone.
We encourage you to go below any article on our website and leave your comments.  We are most interested in your opinion.  We also encourage you to go to the Register Star link and leave your comment below their article.  Be assured that the pro-aborts are leaving their opinions!
It was surmised by these veteran pro-lifers, who have seen these hate filled signs for 20 years, that the clinic didn’t want the media to get wind of what kind of thinking goes on behind the walls of this abortion mill.  Now that the story is published the signs of hatred are back up again – now with a new twist.
In the pictures you see here the abortion mill landlord / security guard / and clinic spokesman has now decided to start standing on top of a ladder with a megaphone in an attempt to stop offers of help to mothers.  He is even carrying a sign with a pro-lifers name, home address, and phone number on it in an attempt to intimidate this person into silence.  The abhorrent attempt at intimidation did not work as well over 200 people came to pray at this abortion mill this morning.
The sad spectacle of vicious personal attack signs in the clinic window don’t seem to be enough for the Rockford abortion industry.  Now they have decided to stand on top of ladders with signs they think will silence offers of help, love, and support to mothers in need.
You can look at the pictures below of today’s prayer vigil to decide for your self if this bazaar and reprehensible new strategy to ensure the deaths of children in the womb will work.

Komen's Ties To Planned Parenthood

Komen for the Cure Deepens Ties With Planned Parenthood Abortion Business

by StevenErtelt Editor

Washington, DC ( — The Komen for the Cure breast cancer foundation has been under fire from pro-life advocates for years for its ties to the Planned Parenthood abortion business. In a new column, pro-life writer Jill Stanek uncovers new information showing the link between the two groups is deepening.

Komen’s ties to Planned Parenthood are well documented and figures from STOPP International show Komen chapters giving $711,485 from April 1, 2005 to March 31, 2006 to Planned Parenthood affiliates.
And in numbers provided to the Associated Press, Susan G. Komen for the Cure spokeswoman Rebecca Gibson confirmed 19 of the 122 Komen affiliates made grants totaling $374,253 to Planned Parenthood during the 2005-2006 fiscal year.
Figures show Komen affiliates have given Planned Parenthood $3 million between 2003 and 2008 and $805,000 in the 2008 fiscal year.
Those donations and links have continued as Komen affiliates in California, Idaho, Colorado, Iowa, Texas, and other states have either made donations or worked with Planned Parenthood abortion centers.
Now, Stanek indicates a pro-life advocate in Washington state who dug into the tax forms of Planned Parenthood of the Great Northwest discovered the abortion business has held a 12.5 percent share in Metro Centre, a mall in Peoria, Illinois, since 2006.
Stanek connects the dots in a new column at WorldNetDaily.
"PPGNW is Washington’s largest abortion provider. (It is also currently under investigation for Medicaid fraud.) Metro Centre is owned by Eric Brinker," Stanek writes. "Eric Brinker is the son of Nancy Goodman Brinker, the founder of SGK. Eric also sits on SGK’s board."
She contacted Brinker with questions and he issued one response but would not respond to a follow-up.
"This share represents a minority, non-operating interest in the business which they inherited from one of the original shareholders, a resident of Peoria. I, Eric Brinker, have controlling interest in Metro Centre," Brinker said.
Stanek says the response leaves open more questions about the Planned Parenthood-Komen relationship.
"Why didn’t PPGNW cash in its inheritance? Why didn’t Eric buy? If the share was willed, it was worth something. The real-estate market was thriving in 2006. It appears both partners are OK with this now four-year-old business partnership," she responded.
Brinker also attempted to defend the donations to Planned Parenthood in his contact with Stanek, saying "only "20 of Komen’s 122 U.S. Affiliates fund breast-health services through local Planned Parenthood clinics" and adding the total money given represents "less than one percent of the total granted by affiliates."
Stanek responds: "My question then is why bother? Why play with fire?"
"The fact remains that the son of the founder of the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, who is also a member of the board, owns a business – a mall – together with a Planned Parenthood affiliate," Stanek says. "The irony. Susan G. Komen’s nephew is financially enabling an abortion business."
Stanek says the end result is Komen is "condemning more women to develop breast cancer" because abortion increases the breast cancer risk while carrying a pregnancy to term reduces it.
"On its web site, SGK acknowledges that childbearing protects women from breast cancer, and the more children a mother bears and the younger she begins bearing them the better. SGK also acknowledges breast-feeding protects against breast cancer," she notes. "But abortion blocks all those preventative measures."
"Only last week a new study got lots of press that found breast cancer survivors lower their risk of dying by 42 percent simply by getting pregnant," Stanek writes at WND.
But, with Komen’s help, more women are ending pregnancies in abortions and running the bigger risk of breast cancer.

League president Bill Donohue comments on recent attempts to censor him:

TV producers have been telling me for years that my critics have implored them never to invite me back on any program. But they always do. While the media are overwhelmingly liberal, they have an obligation to offer different points of view. Hence, their non-stop invitations asking me to speak.
The latest attempt to silence me comes from GLAAD (Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation), Call to Action and the Interfaith Alliance. The three left-wing organizations have joined hands demanding that the media "ignore Bill Donohue." Their complaint? My telling the truth about the role homosexual priests have played in the abuse scandal.
The data collected by John Jay College of Criminal Justice show that between 1950 and 2002, 81 percent of the victims were male and 75 percent of them were post-pubescent. In other words, three out of every four victims have been abused by homosexuals. By the way, puberty, according to the American Academy of Pediatrics, begins at age 10 for boys.
No problem can be remedied without an accurate diagnosis. And any accurate diagnosis that does not finger the role that homosexuals have played in molesting minors is intellectually dishonest. The cover-up must end. And so must attempts to muzzle my voice. Everything I am saying is what most people already know, but are afraid to say it. It’s time for some straight talk.
Catholic League president Bill Donohue comments on a statement made by Cardinal William Levada, Prefect of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith:
Cardinal Levada directly takes on the New York Times for its coverage of the Fr. Murphy abuse case in Wisconsin. Commenting on the news story by Laurie Goodstein, Levada writes, "The point of Goodstein’s article, however, is to attribute the failure to accomplish this dismissal [of Fr. Murphy] to Pope Benedict, instead of to diocesan decisions at the time."
Cardinal Levada has it just right. The wrongdoing in this case rests in Wisconsin. Why did the victims’ families wait as long as 15 years to report the abuse? Why were the civil authorities unconvinced by what they uncovered? Why did Milwaukee Archbishop Rembert Weakland wait almost two decades before he contacted the Vatican?
Weakland’s record in handling sex abuse cases is a matter of record. In 1984, he branded as "libelous" those who reported cases of priestly sexual abuse (he was rebuked by the courts for doing so). Ten years later he accused those who reported such cases of "squealing." And, of course, he had to resign when his lover, a 53 year-old man, revealed that Weakland paid him $450,000 to settle a sexual assault lawsuit (Weakland took the money from archdiocesan funds). It’s a sure bet that if Weakland were a theological conservative–and not a champion of liberal causes–the media (including the National Catholic Reporter and Commonweal) would be all over him.
We also need to learn from Laurie Goodstein why she waited until Wednesday, March 30, to interview Fr. Thomas Brundage, the priest who presided over the Murphy trial. Brundage has said that the pope, then Cardinal Ratzinger, had absolutely nothing to do with the Murphy case. And we need to know why Weakland never gave Brundage a letter he wrote asking him to call off the trial.
There’s dirt in the Murphy case, but it sits in the U.S.A.–not Rome.

It is distressing to look through our congregations

Enemy of God
By Edward Griffin It is distressing to look through our congregations and see how people  neglect  God—how  they live as though there were no God.

Supreme love to God will certainly produce self-denial for His sake. It will habitually avoid everything which He has forbidden; and will obey, not a part, but all of His commands. Supreme love will seek communion with its object more than any worldly pleasure. It will pant after Him—and after greater conformity to Him; it will seek His glory as its highest interest; it will consider Him as its most desirable portion; it will delight in thinking of Him more than in any worldly object; it will delight in prayer; it will renounce the world and idols, and cultivate a heavenly mind.
As humiliating as the thought is-we know that every person is God’s enemy, until he is born again. "The carnal mind is enmity against God." Hence it is, that so many people who attend public worship and lead regular lives, are … so unmindful of God from day after day, neglect prayer, put eternal things out of view, and lose themselves in the eager pursuit of the world.
They must be conscious, if they will but reflect, that the world engages more of their care—than God or their souls—and is of course their supreme deity. They must be conscious that prayer is a burden—that pious fellowship is a burden—that the thoughts of God which sometimes intrude are unwelcome—that the Christian service is not agreeable to their taste—that they would rather be employed in amusement, or business, or pleasure, or sloth— than in piety; that they would rather be reading an amusing story—than in searching the Scriptures.
Surely such people do not love God. Such minds could not be happy in heaven—if admitted there. They must undergo a radical change—or certainly they can find no happiness beyond the grave. Ah Lord God, how many of such are to be found among us—among the dearest friends of our hearts!
"You adulterous people, don’t you know that friendship with the world is hatred toward God? Anyone who chooses to be a friend of the world becomes an enemy of God." James 4:4
