First The Dangerous Rockford Mill Closes – Is Peoria Next?

Rockford, Il – ( – 1-28-2012 – by Rockford Pro-Life Initiative – An article in the Peoria Journal Star exposes to the public the numerous violations found inside Peoria’s National Health Care abortion mill.   The interesting thing about this article is the director of the troubled Peoria abortion mill, Margaret Van Duyn, was also a consultant for the Northern Illinois Women’s Center in Rockford and a frequent visitor to Rockford.

Both of these abortion mills that have been greatly influenced by Margaret Van Duyn have had dozens and dozens of violations cited by the state of Illinois.
Rockford pro-lifers got to know Margaret Van Duyn very well.  Her licenses plate said "maggie" and when she would drive into the Rockford mill parking-lot she had a habit of speeding up when she got near pro-life side walk counselors in the hope of intimidating them. When she would park her car, she would direct that unique brand of vulgar and hate-filled language at pro-lifers that became a hallmark of Rockford abortion mills staff.
Maggie, as she was known by Rockford pro-lifers, seemed perpetually angry at the world and very willing to let the world know it.
The spotlight is now moving from the horrific Rockford abortion mill to other abortion mills in the state.  What we are seeing is some of the same people are involved in killing babies and running shoddy abortion mills around Illinois – and the women and children of this stare are still the ones paying the deadly price.

Prayer Of Thanks At NIWC With Dr. Alveda King And Other Pastors

Rockford, Il – ( – 1-26-2012 – by Staff – On January 17, 2012 Dr. Alveda King came to Rockford to speak of family values and how the pro-life movement is the new civil rights movement.  Dr. King and about thirty other advocates for life gathered at the now closed (Northern Illinois Women’s Center) NIWC to offer prayers of thanks to God for His great blessing in closing the most infamous abortion mill in America.

The temperature hovered at around twenty degrees and the wind was strong, but those gathered did not seem to mind.  They wanted to gather at the place where over 70,000 babies were slaughtered.  It should also be noted that many hundreds of babies were saved because of the presence of pro-life citizens in Rockford and surrounding areas and the mothers’ openness to God’s grace.
This was a day that the Lord had made; over the years countless numbers of His faithful had come to this place of death to pray, witness, and minister to the Mothers, some of whom would listen and choose life for their babies.  These advocates offered prayers for the mothers and for those little ones who were slated to die.  Because of their faithful presence, the babies did not die alone and were ushered by God’s angels  into the loving arms of their Creator.
We must note that the Rockford Register Star did a nice photo spread of this event.  That being said, to our knowledge no media, including the Rockford Register Star, print or broadcast, did an in depth coverage of what Dr. King, Mayor Morrissey, or the other pro-life, pro-family speakers had to say.  It is censorship of the pro-life pro-family message through silence.  That is an insult to these good and humble people.
It would be impossible to acknowledge the many human instruments God has raised up to fight the good fight. In time, hopefully, we can speak to their good works.  We must mention, however,  Mr. and Mrs. Brady of the Rockford Labor News who opened their doors to provide warmth, love, and cold or hot drinks year in and year out.  May our Lord richly bless them for their selfless help and love given to the pro-life citizens of Rockford.

More Proof That Rockford Pro-Lifers Have Saved Lives

Rockford, Il – ( – 1-26-2012 – by James – The story below from Lifesite News shows the prayers, sacrifices, and hard work of pro-lifers throughout the state of Illinois and especially in Rockford are saving lives.  Even before the Rockford mill closed the numbers of babies killed by abortion in Rockford had been going down because of the prayers, love, and help offered to mothers in need by Christian pro-lifers.

We still have a lot of work ahead of us to end abortion but it is good to see real lives and souls are being saved
Illinois Abortions Drop to 37-Year Low, Down 9 Percent
by Steven Ertelt | | 1/25/12 1:16 PM
Abortions in Illinois have dropped 9 percent in 2010 from the prior year and the state health department indicates they are now at a 37-year low. Abortions are expected to drop further now that Rockford’s abortion business has closed.
The Illinois Department of Public Health indicates 41,859 abortions were done on women and children in Illinois in 2010 — which is the lowest recorded total since the Supreme Court made virtually all abortions legal in Roe v. Wade in 1973, when 32,760 abortions were done in the state.
Planned Parenthood of Illinois President Carole Brite told the Chicago Sun Times she is glad abortions have declined but doesn’t know why they have decreased, though she speculated contraception may have been responsible — however she cited no figures to back up the claim.
Bill Beckman of the Illinois Right to Life Committee told the newspaper he thinks the abortion decline might be represented in the shift in public opinion towards the pro-life position that has occurred over the last several years.
“Certainly it seems like the level of people willing to be active in some way or another could be seen as increasing,” he said. “I think that overall, just the public mind-set of abortion is changing and that’s having an impact on people being more reluctant to make that choice.”
According to the Times:  “The 2010 figure was down from 46,077 in 2009, a 9 percent decrease, state records showed. Procedures in Cook County decreased 1,356, from 25,196 in 2009 to 23,840 in 2010. The number of abortions for non-Illinois residents decreased from 3,624 to 3,050. Abortions among Illinois minors — age 17 and under — dropped from 2,991 to 2,725.”
The number of abortions on teenage girls in the state could decline further if the state ever enforces a 1995 parental involvement law that has been tied up in court.
Tom Schafer, deputy director of the state’s Office of Health Promotion, told the newspaper the state counts abortions at 26 abortion facilities and those done by 95 and 140 individual physicians, who may not always report to the state. The state’s abortion figures may also be lower than the actual number as the pro-abortion Guttmacher Institute, which works more closely with abortion businesses and abortion practitioners, shows 54,920 abortions in Illinois in 2008 while the state’s health department recorded 47,717.
The abortion business in Rockford, Illinois has been closed down permanently after recently reopening following an agreement with the state after violations it engaged in that caused its closing temporarily late last year.
Earlier this month, the Northern Illinois Women’s Center in Rockford closed after having its license suspended by the Illinois Department of Health after failing an inspection following up on previous violations state officials found in June. The state told the abortion business it needed a plan of correction and, despite the plan, the corrections had not been sufficiently made and health inspectors still found numerous violations.
Department of Public Health officials gave the abortion center a three-page report of deficiencies on September 29 signed by Damon T. Arnold, the director of the state department. The notice says officials “found conditions at (the Northern Illinois Women’s Center) that are directly threatening to the public interest, health, safety and welfare requiring immediate, emergency action.”

Prayer Needed To Keep Rockford Abortion-Free

Rockford, Il – ( – 1-25-2012 – by James – Many factors played a part in the collapse of Rockford’s baby-killing industry.  Their own arrogance and pride blinded them to the crimes they committed. The brave sidewalk counselors who helped so many women for so many years, every person who stood outside of the mill witnessing to Christ and life, and every person who prayed or worked in any way, shape, or form played a part in the closing of the Rockford mill.

Of all these, the most powerful force to end abortion and protect children, women, and men in Rockford from the culture of death was prayer.  Nothing in this world and not even the demonic forces behind abortion can stop faithful and persistent prayer.

Please make it specifically part of your daily prayer life that God will keep Rockford abortion free and bring an end to all crimes against life in our world.

Please print out the prayer below and join us in praying it every day.

Prayer To Keep Rockford Abortion Free And End Abortion

Lord God, I thank you for closing the Rockford abortion mill,
And for the lives of all my brothers and sisters that have been saved.

May abortion never return to Rockford and end forever in our world.

I rejoice that you have conquered death
by the Resurrection of Your Son.

I am ready to do my part in ending abortion.

Today I commit myself
Never to be silent,
Never to be passive,
Never to be forgetful of the unborn.

I commit myself to be active in the pro-life movement
And never to stop defending life
Until all my brothers and sisters are protected
And our nation once again becomes
A nation with liberty and justice
Not just for some, but for all.

Through Christ our Lord. Amen!

40 Days For Life Rockford

Rockford, Il – ( – 1-24-2012 – by Rockford Pro-Life Initiative – 40 Days for Life in Rockford has produced powerful results the last three years.  Because of the 40 days of prayer during Lent at the Rockford abortion mill, dozens of babies were saved, and the numbers of abortions was cut almost in half.

We will still have a 40 Days for Life this year in Rockford, but it will not be necessary to be present at the closed abortion mill.  We are asking people to pray in their homes, churches, and with prayer groups during Lent in thanksgiving to God for closing the Rockford abortion mill and to ask God to end abortion forever.
With the Rockford mill closed, we will not need to pray on the sidewalks at 1400 Broadway, but as the weeks proceed, we will send out information on 40 Days for Life campaigns in other cities for those willing to travel a few miles.
We also have hundreds of 40 Days for Life yard signs we would like to have placed throughout the Rockford area.  Please contact Sue at 815-963-6340 for more information on obtaining yard signs.

Marching Against Roe: 39 Years and 54 Million Unborn Babies

by Steven Ertelt | |  39 years ago the Supreme Court of the United States handed down one of the worst decisions our nation has ever seen – Roe v. Wade. Since this horrific decision that called the destruction of human life a “right,” 54 million babies have been aborted. That figure is a tragic and solemn reminder of what we fight for every day – the lives of millions of babies.

Today, thousands of Americans are taking a stand for life at the 39th Annual March for Life in Washington, DC. It is important that today of all days we take a moment to remember the lives we have lost to abortion and renew our efforts to defend life.
President Obama is also remembering this anniversary, renewing his support for abortion. He calls abortion a “fundamental constitutional right” and praises Roe v. Wade as ensuring that “our daughters have the same rights … as our sons.”
No, Mr. President. The right to life is a fundamental constitutional right – the most basic human right. Roe has allowed millions upon millions of our nation’s sons and daughters to be killed.
Unsurprisingly, Planned Parenthood – the nation’s largest abortion provider – is also celebrating, calling on abortion supporters to tell how their lives have been changed since Roe. Who they won’t hear from are the millions of babies who never had a chance at life and the countless women who have been permanently scarred by abortion.
The President of Planned Parenthood even went so far as to say, “Since Roe, countless women have exercised freedom that was unimaginable in the days before Roe.” She is exactly right, “unimaginable.” It is unimaginable that we have allowed 54 million babies to be aborted. It is unimaginable that in the United States of America we would persecute and prosecute those who stand up for life.
These are the cases we deal with on a daily basis – not only standing up for the rights of the unborn but those who give them a voice. We are defending the eighty-year-old prolife advocate who is being prosecuted by the Obama Justice Department for communicating his prolife message and prolife pregnancy centers from laws that threaten to shutdown their lifesaving work.
But the most critical threat to life we face today – the greatest expansion of abortion since Roe – is pro-abortion ObamaCare, and you can join us in this fight be signing our amicus brief to the Supreme Court.
Today, we all stand together and march on in defense of life. Note: Jay Sekulow is the chief counsel for the American Center for Law and Justice.

After 40 Days, Nineveh Repented

WASHINGTON, D.C., JAN. 23, 2012-  Zenit org- Cardinal DiNardo Points to 2013 Anniversary at Vigil Mass
Once again the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in Washington D.C. was the scene on Sunday of the National Vigil for Life, held to mark the anniversary of the U.S. Supreme Court’s Jan. 22, 1973 decision legalizing abortion, Roe vs. Wade.
The homily at the Sunday evening Mass was given by the U.S. bishops’ chair for Pro-Life Activities, Cardinal Daniel DiNardo of Galveston-Houston.

Addressing the many thousands of people packed in the basilica, Cardinal DiNardo classified the occasion as "a somber day of remembrance."
He remarked on the large number of children and young people present at the vigil. "You are grand and eloquent witnesses to human life, enthusiasm unmoved by sour pundits who prefer to ignore you."
Commenting on the first reading about the Prophet Jonah who urged the people of Nineveh to repent within 40 days, he observed that the 40th anniversary of Roe vs. Wade is next year. Since that decision 53 million children have lost their lives, and "millions of men and women have lives that will never be the same because of their tragic choices."
We must continue to pray and work for a change in the laws, the cardinal said, but urged the protestors to avoid harsh rhetoric that would foreclose change and repentance.
"Yes, the Lord through his Son weeps over the loss of life; His simultaneous compassion and mercy opens up forgiveness to those who have greatly sinned," he reflected.
"It is not weakness to show compassion for those with whom we have fundamental disagreement on human life, a matter of the greatest importance," the cardinal added.
"We are the people of the Gospel of Life," he proclaimed. As such, he said, the first duty is to be credible witnesses, living chaste lives and not being overcome by a desire for material possessions.
Cardinal DiNardo noted that there is positive news in the pro-life battle, with a record number of state laws that restrict abortions. As well, state prosecutors have begun to take action against late term abortionists who often injure and maim women.
"At the same time conscience protection and religious liberty for all of us who work for life has been put in jeopardy and represents a significant and troubling issue," he said.
The cardinal also referred to the Holy Father’s Jan. 9 address to the Diplomatic Corps. In it Benedict XVI said: "With particular reference to the West, I am convinced that legislative measures which not only permit but at times even promote abortion for reasons of convenience and for questionable medical motives compromise the education of young people and, as a result, the future of humanity."
He observed that the Church’s Year of Faith, which begins this October, will overlap with the 40th anniversary of Roe vs. Wade. "May the new evangelization, which always begins with personal conversion, be a prime vehicle for re-invigorating the Gospel of Life here in the United States," he said, "for individuals, for the Church, and for the people of the United States."

A Fitting Memorial To the Women And Children Harmed By Abortion In Rockford

Rockford, Il – ( – 1-23-2012 – by Rockford Pro-Life Initiative – The building that was used to kill so many children in Rockford’s abortion Holocaust could be turned into a memorial to those murdered by abortion just like the buildings at Auschwitz have are being used to memorialize those murdered in the Nazi Holocaust.

Former abortion mill landlord and security guard Wayne Webster has been one of our most loyal readers here at pro-life corner (he did it to keep tabs on pro-lifers).  He often commented, in a negative way about articles that appeared on this web-site.
In the possibility that Mr. Webster still numbers himself among our readers, the Rockford Pro-Life Initiative would like to ask Mr. Webster to consider turning the former Rockford abortion mill into a memorial to the unborn.
The building located at 1400 Broadway that housed the Rockford abortion mill witnessed the deaths of over 70,000 human beings behind its walls.
The pain, suffering, and death that have taken place in that building is incalculable.
The building itself is not in good condition and the reputation it has rightly been given as a place of torment and a place where so many children took their last dying breaths will mark it in the minds and hearts of the people of Rockford for generations to come.
If Wayne Webster would be willing to turn this building into the Rockford Abortion Holocaust Museum and Memorial it could begin the healing process for a lot of people, including Mr. Webster.
