A Thanksgiving Blessing
We take approximately 23,000 breaths every day, but when was the last time you thanked God for one of them? The process of inhaling oxygen and exhaling carbon dioxide is a complicated respiratory task that requires physiological precision. We tend to thank God for the things that take our breath away. And that’s fine. But maybe we should thank him for every other breath too!
Accept O Lord, our thanks and praise for all You have done for us. We thank You for…
The splendor of creation
The beauty of this world
The wonder of life and the mystery of love
For the blessing of family and friends
For Your loving care that surrounds us on every side
For setting us at task, which demands our best efforts
For leading us to accomplishments which satisfy and delight us
For disappointments and failures that lead us to acknowledge our dependence on You alone.
Above all, we thank Your Son Jesus Christ, For the Truth of His Word and for the example of His Life
For His steadfast obedience by which He overcame temptation,
For His dying through which He overcame death
For His rising to life again in which we are raised to life in Your Kingdom.
Grant us the gift of Your Holy Spirit
That we may know Him and make Him known,
And through Him at all times and in all places, give thanks to You in all things, Amen! Continue reading
