35th anniversary of Father Camacho’s ordination

Freeport Illinois-  ProLifeCorner.com- Update 8-3-2014-  On July 16 the churches of St. Joseph and St. Mary in Freeport, Il held a celebration for Fr. Camacho, who marked his 35th year of his priesthood.  Father Camacho has served a large area of our diocese as the Freeport Deanery Coordinator of Hispanic Ministry and resides at St. Mary’s rectory in Freeport.  We could see how highly respected and loved he is by the large number of people who attended the potluck dinner held at the Holy Family Community Center.  During the festivities, Father was presented with a new vestment that shows an image of Our Lady of Guadalupe, patroness of the Americas.  He was further honored by a group of young people, the Freeport Hispanic dancers, who performed.

We present a video of this memorable event so those who could not be present could enjoy this celebration.

See note below from Father Camacho:

Dear Friends:

I cannot express how happy and humbled you have made me feel by the overwhelming and generous show of love on the occasion of my 35th anniversary as a priest.  I am so very grateful for the many beautiful cards and gifts and remembrances you have showered me with. But the most beautiful gift you gave me was the show of unity, family sharing and joy that was so evident at the “Pot Luck” celebration. I am reminded of the passage from the Holy Scripture that says, “How good it is when brothers can live together as one”. As the kids would say it was totally awesome!! You have shown what a true loving “Church” community is. Let us never lose it.

To Ev Bouray and her wonderful volunteers, the Ladies Guild and the Marian Society, A BIG THANK YOU!!! And for the amazing banquet of delicious foods, I must say “WOW”!  Sorry I could not taste them all, but it was a feast for the eyes as well. With much gratitude and prayers. Your Servant, Father Camacho

  1. And this video and picture collage is another gift to Fr. Camacho and our entire faith community. We are thankful to you and to the Lord for sharing with us your God-given talents and years of developing the skills to be able to create this remarkable documentary. It is a legacy and proof that we are greatly blessed to live in a community, a parish, among so many loving people with servant hearts, and who really know how to party!
