Are You Born Again? Are You saved?
ProLifeCorner – Frank Munda- Many of us have heard, or used the terms “are you born again”, or “are you saved”, and “have you accepted Christ as your personal Lord and Savior”? When we hear these terms or even use them ourselves, do we really think about what it means? If I had a group of Evangelicals, Lutherans, Pentecostals, Presbyterians, Catholics, etc. and ask the above questions, I more than likely would get different interpretations within each one of these groups. Christianity should not be a democracy where we get a consensus of the majority and therefore that is the truth, at least at that moment and within that particular group.
The purpose of this article is not to convert you, the reader, to any particular Christian belief. I do however believe that our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ intended for us to be one. The unfortunate reality is we are not “one”, and that is something that you, myself, or anyone else can possibly change. That peace, that unity, can only come through the power of the Holy Spirit and I long for that day. In the meantime, through our brokenness, through our division, can we at least build upon what we do agree on? That is, we love the teachings of Jesus Christ and we want to build our lives around those teachings.
It is my desire to build upon the positive and eliminate our negative points of view. I would like to issue a challenge to myself as well as to everyone reading this letter. That challenge is for you and me to be the best Christian that we can possibly be. If you are a Pentecostal, Evangelical, Presbyterian, Lutheran, Catholic, nondenominational Christian, etc., embrace your faith to its fullest. The challenge is if you are, for example, a Lutheran study your faith, and be an example to your fellow brothers and sisters in the pew. Support your pastor, get involved in the various charities, or activities of your faith community, be the best Lutheran in the world and show the light of Christ to all around you. That challenge goes out to each one of us, no matter what our faith community is; to be the best there is within our own faith community. Not the best in the worldly sense, not a prideful best, but in a Christ centered best; in Christ like humility so when people meet you they will say “wow” I want to be like him or her, see how they love one another. That kind of love, that kind of teaching through example, is the most powerful preaching and teaching there can be.
Why do I bring this up? Why am I talking this way? Scripture tells us that a house divided cannot stand. If I’m going to profess a belief in Scripture and what Christ has taught, than I should be concerned about our division. Unity is of Christ, division is from Satan. Satan is real, the fallen angels are real, and as Scripture says these demons are prowling about the world seeking to destroy souls. And sadly based upon what I am seeing, these demons are good at promoting their evil. All we have to do is read a newspaper or watch the six clock news.
Today, right now, our nation is a house divided and it cannot stand. We are divided on the subject of abortion, birth control, Democrat, Republican, Independent, etc. Politically our nation is in grave danger. Every day we become less of a Republic and more of a dictatorial socialistic government. Second only to Holy Scripture, the greatest document ever written, in my opinion, is the Constitution of the United States of America. We need to get back to the principles put forth in these documents or surely we will perish.
As Christians we are in grave danger of losing our Judeo-Christian heritage. We must resist those who have systematically and consistently attacked our rights to preach and teach our Judeo-Christian faith. We must understand and believe that we have a constitutional right to practice our religion. It is the government who is not supposed to establish a religion. In violation of the Constitution the government has put in place the godless religion of secular humanism. They have systematically suppressed the rights of Christians to invoke the name of Jesus Christ in schools and public arenas. We have a socialistic dictatorial government which is now allowing, and even promoting the teachings of Islam in our schools, while suppressing the Christian faith. We must demand that if the government is going to establish or allow the Muslim faith to be taught in schools, than we want equal time for Christian teaching or demand they suppress the teaching of Islam like they have suppressed the teachings of Christ. We Christians are not second-class citizens; we must demand to be treated the same as all other world religions. For our younger readers may I suggest you go back in time and read how our country was founded on Judeo-Christian principles. Many of our laws are based upon the Ten Commandments, ie, thou shall not kill. We have cities and places all across this country named after Christian saints. For example, San (Saint) Diego, St. Paul, MN, St. Louis, MO, San Francisco, St. Helena, CA etc. Back when we had a decent government we even named many of our combat naval vessels after saints, ie, USS St. Paul, USS San Antonio, etc.
How is it that the government can get away with what it is doing, when attacking our Christian faith is clearly against the Bill of Rights? My opinion is that we Christians are too busy within our own particular faith community and therefore we don’t see the larger picture. If we are to survive and continue to be free to practice our faith, we must unify at least in principle. I am pleased to say that within the pro-life community we have achieved that goal. I see Christians of all different denominations standing together, invoking the name of Jesus Christ to bring an end to abortion. If we can come together for a common good, such as the end of abortion and euthanasia, then certainly we can do the same to preserve our Judeo-Christian heritage for the purpose of practicing our religion in a safe and free environment.
Now is the time for all good men to come to the aid of their country.
Certainly those of us with white hair, or in my case some hair, will remember that simple little phrase as we tried to learn our typing skills in school. By the way using ”for all good men” is correct and proper, and has been since the founding of our country. In proper context “all good men” means women and children as well. But Frank, you might say, that is not politically correct! To which I reply there is no such thing as politically correct, it only exists in the minds of the liberals. Politically correct in the minds of the liberals is, in reality, a means of censoring us. And censorship is against your and my right to free speech. Preaching and teaching politically correct has systematically robbed us of our dignity and also many of our rights, especially the right to free speech. They use it to suppress our thoughts while promoting their agenda. My dear brothers and sisters, can we unite like the pro-life movement did, and continues to do, for the purpose of ending the evils of abortion and euthanasia? Can we unite in the name of Jesus; can we unite for the purpose of unity; can we unite to preserve our Christian heritage? Please say yes. Benjamin Franklin once said “We must all hang together or assuredly we shall all hang separately”. When they have systematically attacked individuals from another faith community have I hardly raised an eyebrow? When one of our brothers or sisters were being attacked by the police at an abortion killing center did I fail to defend him? A house divided cannot stand, and if we do not stand together we shall perish.
Okay, you might say, I’m with you so far, how do we proceed?
Good question. I think the first step is recognizing the problem. We must recognize that right now we have a dictatorial central government that has declared Christianity the enemy. However, the government is promoting another religion, Islam and granting it total freedom to preach and teach in our schools. We have a central government which is taking over our health care system contrary to the principles of a free nation. In the process of this government takeover of a major industry i.e. the healthcare industry. It would appear that a part of the agenda is to set up death panels to see who lives and who dies and who decides. Those decisions to kill, to murder individuals who would rather live, will come in the form of denying insurance payments. The lives of the elderly, infirm, special needs, are all at risk, and subject to the dictates of a godless central government. With the guidance of the Holy Spirit and your help we can bring an end to these attacks on our faith.
Pray for guidance, pray unceasingly, pray for the righteous few in our country, the children the innocent ones who will suffer at the hands of the dictatorial government. Their future freedoms, and rights are at stake.
I do know that a house divided cannot stand. Christianity is divided and the enemies of freedom have taken advantage of that. In the name of Jesus we must pray and work together to restore decency and freedom back to our once great nation or we will perish.
I would love to hear from you; I would like to hear your thoughts on this subject. I have grave concerns for the future of our nation. However I put my trust in Christ.
Bishop Fulton J. Sheen once said: “When two men are fighting in a forest, and they are attacked by a wild beast, they quickly become a unified force against a common danger. So it should be today with Jews, Protestants, and Catholics. There is a common enemy. Therefore let there be a common front against a common affront.” Now more than ever is the time for us to follow his advice.
May the love, joy, and peace of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ be with you and all your loved ones.
