"Marriage is not a human invention. It was instituted by God as a sacred union between a man and a woman." MP

Beaumont, AB, Canada By Mark Pickup-  My wife and I are entering our 39th year of marriage. We married young when we were both twenty years old.  We eloped. At the time, many people thought our marriage would not last a year (so much for conventional wisdom).  Had it not been for our Christian conversion in the earlier years of marriage, we might well have divorced.  We renewed our vows before God. That made all the difference.

Komen Causing Breast Cancer by Funding Planned Parenthood

by Steven Ertelt | | The head of a women’s group that examines the link between abortion and breast cancer says Komen for the Cure is going against its own mission of stopping breast cancer by renewing funding for the Planned Parenthood abortion business. As LifeNews reported, Komen for the Cure has officially buckled to pressure from Planned Parenthood and 17 affiliates of the national breast cancer charity will provide grants for the abortion business this calendar year.

Karen Malec, president of the Coalition on Abortion/Breast Cancer says Komen, which attempted earlier this year to withdraw from its long-standing relationship with Planned Parenthood but recently renewed it, is causing women to contract breast cancer by funding the abortion agency.

“Women will die, as Komen violates its supposed mission to fight breast cancer,” she said.

Malec added:  “Planned Parenthood sells cancer-causing abortions and oral contraceptives (the birth control pill). According to medical texts, increased childbearing, starting before age 24, substantially reduces breast cancer risk. Fifty-two of 68 studies and biological and experimental evidence link abortion with increased risk. The World Health Organization lists estrogen-progestogen oral contraceptives as a risk factor for cancers of the breast, liver and cervix. Oral contraceptives are strongly linked with the deadly triple-negative breast cancer.”

“It’s unfortunate that Komen founder Nancy Goodman Brinker lacks the strength of character needed to protect women from Planned Parenthood’s war on their health. Brinker wilted under fire from Planned Parenthood’s orchestrated mafia shakedown,” Malec said. “Shockingly, even Big Media journalists and 26 members of Congress participated in it.”

“Planned Parenthood does not provide mammograms and breast cancer treatment. It provides manual breast exams and refers women elsewhere for mammograms,” she concluded.

Professor Joel Brind, an endocrinologist at Baruch College in New York, worked with several scientists on a 1996 paper published in the Journal of Epidemiol Community Health showing a “30% greater chance of developing breast cancer” for women who have induced abortions. He said last year that as many as 300,000 women have died as a result of breast cancer contracted due to abortions.

“If we take the overall risk of breast cancer among women to be about 10% (not counting abortion), and raise it by 30%, we get 13% lifetime risk,” Brind explains. Using the 50 million abortions since Roe v. Wade figure, we get 1.5 million excess cases of breast cancer. At an average mortality of 20% since 1973, that would mean that legal abortion has resulted in some 300,000 additional deaths due to breast cancer since Roe v. Wade.”

Figures from August 2011 directly from the Komen for the Cure foundation show 18 affiliates of the breast cancer charity gave a total of more than $569,000 to the Planned Parenthood abortion business in 2010. That was down from the $731,303 Komen officials publicly confirmed in October 2010, when they acknowledged that 20 of the 122 Komen affiliates gave to Planned Parenthood during the 2009 fiscal year.

A Modest Proposal Polo IL.- by Larry Plachno–  Whether we accept the fact or not, the United States is in the middle of an undeclared civil war. Our nation has become terribly polarized with liberals opposed to conservatives, those who only believe in choice opposed to those who believe in good and evil, and those who believe in spending opposed to those who believe in jobs and being competitive in the world market. Recent moves to eliminate religious freedom in the United States make this situation more critical.

Our country is in trouble because we cannot work together. We cannot agree on whether good and evil exists or there is only choice. I was under the impression that we resolved this question a century and a half ago when we fought over whether good and evil exists or whether there was only choice in regard to slavery.

Several people suggest that we should compromise. But how can you compromise on good and evil? Should we outlaw murder on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays but encourage it on Tuesdays and Thursdays? Should we outlaw selling drugs to kids in the mornings but encourage it in the afternoon? Should we outlaw abortions for people with names starting with A through M but encourage it for people with names starting with N through Z?

I think that the time has come to agree on the fact that we disagree. A team has to work together in order to win. When team members demand a choice to do what they want, then the team cannot work towards victory. We reached this point around 1776 when the King of England and the American Colonies could not agree. It is obvious we have a similar situation today. My modest proposal is that we vote by county on whether we believe in good and evil or whether we believe in choice. Then we can stop fighting and each group can go its separate way.

We will let the choice people have the big cities, Washington, D.C. and Hollywood, places that reflect the work of man. Those of us who believe in good and evil will keep the farms, mountains and plains that reflect the work of God.

We will let the choice people keep the U.S. dollar now that they have destroyed it with their spending. Those of us who believe in good and evil will have to create a new currency based on budgets and on both fiscal and moral responsibility. We will encourage jobs and business.

Choice people can also keep their illogical and selfish political correctness. Those of us who believe in good and evil will support the family, traditional marriage and parental supervision of children.

However, we would like to have the American Flag. It is obvious that the choice people do not want it since they burn and desecrate it. I am one of many who served in our armed forces and one of many who believe in what our American Flag once stood for . . . not for what the choice people tried to turn it into. Maybe our American Flag can once again mean what it once did.

Bill Donohue responds to critics of the statement on religious liberty that was released last week by the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops: We expect it when Barry Lynn of Americans United for Separation of Church and State accuses the bishops of seeking to “maintain their privileged status.” Similarly, we are not surprised when a left-wing blog, ThinkProgress, associated with the Center for American Progress, says the Catholic Church wants to “impose its public services” on the public. Rabid Catholic-basher Sarah Posner shocked no one when she said the bishops’ document was “even more pointed and hostile than previous statements.”

It was laughable, but entirely predictable, that Stephen Prothero would use his CNN post to question the right of the bishops to speak for Catholics, while invoking the anti-Catholic front group Catholics for Choice as a legitimate voice!
What was most disturbing, however, was to see a Catholic media outlet, Commonweal, take after the bishops with a vengeance. An editorial on the subject said “the tenor of the bishops’ statement runs the risk of making this into a partisan issue during a presidential election in which the leaders of one party have made outlandish claims about a ‘war on religion’ or a ‘war against the Catholic Church.’”
This says it all. Commonweal’s first allegiance is not the defense of religious liberty—it is the defense of the Obama administration. But as Timothy Cardinal Dolan said so well, the bishops did not pick this fight. Nor did they pick the timing. Obama did.
Contrast Commonweal’s boilerplate response with that of Commentary, a Jewish publication. Jonathan S. Tobin called the bishops’ statement “an important document that is neither partisan nor an attempt to inflame sentiments on divisive issues.” He urged Jews to stand with the bishops. Too bad the Catholics at Commonweal can’t find it within themselves to do likewise.

Women Suffer Mental Health Risks From Abortion Despite Abortion Culture

Posted On Catholic Lane By Lucia Muchova , April 13, 2012   A new study from China shows that women who have experienced induced abortion have omnipresent mental health problems during a subsequent pregnancy. It also confirms that adverse mental health effects of induced abortion are far more severe than those of miscarriage and they persist longer.

The most recent study published in the Bulletin of Clinical Psychopharmacology by Z. Huang and colleagues from the Anhui Medical College in China finds that women who had an induced abortion a year or more prior to the pregnancy were 49% more likely to experience depression and 114% more likely to suffer from anxiety in the first trimester of subsequent pregnancy compared to women with no abortion history.

Women who had an induced abortion less than one year prior to the pregnancy experienced a 97% increased risk of anxiety in the first trimester and 64% greater risk of depression in the second trimester. Women who experienced spontaneous abortion one year or more before the pregnancy, however, did not face greater risk of anxiety or depression.

The Chinese study looks at 6,887 women, more than 40% of whom had experienced at least one induced abortion. Maternal education, income, place of residence and body mass index (BMI) scores are controlled for in order to identify the independent effect of abortion on mental health problems during subsequent pregnancy.

In China, abortion is legal and available for women as a government service. The authors argue that abortion plays an imperative role in achieving China’s goals of population stability through the one-child policy.

In rural areas, a second child is sometimes allowed after five years, especially if the first-born is a girl. In urban areas, couples often choose to terminate the first pregnancy, knowing they are only allowed one child. The densely populated Anhui province, where the study was conducted, is a case in point. Partly as a result of widespread abortion, it also has one of the highest gender imbalance ratios in China: more than 130 boys for 100 girls according to a British Medical Journal 2009 study on “China’s Excess Males, Sex Selective Abortion, and One Child Policy.” The natural ratio is 103 to 105 boys per 100 girls.

The new study adds to the rapidly growing literature on the effects of abortion on the mental health of women. Despite the widespread abortion culture in China, this study shows similar results to studies conducted in the United States, Australia, Norway, and South Africa. Many of these are available at the website WECARE the World Expert Consortium for Abortion Research and Education ( ).

The study also finds that mental health problems in the first term of pregnancy following an induced abortion may have detrimental effects on the fetus. Dr Priscilla Coleman argues “All the major body structures are formed during the 1st trimester and stress hormones may potentially harm the developing fetus.”

And finally, there are health policy implications. The study’s authors conclude: “Understanding the emotional responses after a pregnancy termination may enable health personnel to better distinguish those women who need extra help and follow-up and provide insight into the needs of these families at this critical time.”

The Next Rally For Religious Freedom

Rockford, Il – ( – 4 16 2012 – by Rockford Pro-Life Initiative – Important announcement!  Another Rally for Religious Freedom is coming up in June.  Please read the information below to find out how you can participate in this most important event.

WHAT: The Next Rally for Religious Freedom
WHEN: June 8 at Noon
WHERE: In Rockford – The Corner of State St. and Alpine

It’s with great excitement the Pro-Life Action League and Rockford Pro-Life Initiative announce the next Stand Up for Religious Freedom rallies will take place Friday, June 8 nationwide.  In Rockford it will take place at noon at the corner of State and Alpine.

The huge controversy over Barack Obama’s HHS Mandate is growing, and it’s time to take the next step to stop this attack on religious freedom.

Last month, over 63,000 Americans gathered at sites in 145 cities for a massive rally in protest of the Mandate.

They said NO to the HHS Mandate, which forces employers—including religious charities—to provide contraceptives and abortion-inducing drugs in their health plans, for free.

June 8 date prepares the ground for the Obamacare ruling

Now it’s time to build on that great momentum with the next Stand Up for Religious Freedom Rally, and June 8 is the perfect date.

Right now the entire Obamacare law, with its oppressive mandates and abortion loopholes, is under review by the United States Supreme Court. A ruling is coming at the end of June.

If the Supreme Court strikes down Obamacare, the June 8 Rally sets the agenda for future health care reform, demanding respect for religious liberty and freedom of conscience.

But if the Court leaves Obamacare intact, the June 8 Rally advances our demand that the HHS Mandate must go.

Defend the First Amendment on June 8!

Come out on June 8—which happens to be the 223rd anniversary of the day James Madison introduced the Bill of Right in Congress—and help prepare the ground for the Obamacare ruling!

Last month’s Stand Up for Religious Freedom Rally hit the “reset” button on the HHS Mandate controversy, putting the focus where it belongs: respect for religious freedom.

On June 8, people of faith will hit the streets again to demand that all our health care laws respect the role of religious faith in the public square.

More information will be coming soon!

545 vs.300,000,000 People

Sometimes people hit the nail right on the head and nothing else needs to be said.

 Charley Reese’s final column

A very interesting column.. COMPLETELY NEUTRAL

Charley Reese’s final column for the Orlando Sentinel…
He has been a journalist for 49 years.
He is retiring and this is HIS LAST COLUMN.

This is about as clear and easy to understand as it can be. The article below is completely neutral, neither anti-republican nor democrat. Charlie Reese, a retired reporter for the Orlando Sentinel, has hit the nail directly on the head, defining clearly who it is that in the final analysis must assume responsibility for the judgments made that impact each one of us every day. It’s a short but good read. Worth the time. Worth remembering!

545 vs. 300,000,000 People
-By Charlie Reese
Politicians are the only people in the world who create problems and then campaign against them.

Have you ever wondered, if both the Democrats and the Republicans are against deficits, WHY do we have deficits?

Have you ever wondered, if all the politicians are against inflation and high taxes, WHY do we have inflation and high taxes?

You and I don’t propose a federal budget. The President does.

You and I don’t have the Constitutional authority to vote on appropriations. The House of Representatives does.

You and I don’t write the tax code, Congress does.

You and I don’t set fiscal policy, Congress does.

You and I don’t control monetary policy, the Federal Reserve Bank does.

One hundred senators, 435 congressmen, one President, and nine Supreme Court justices equates to 545 human beings out of the 300 million are directly, legally, morally, and individually responsible for the domestic problems that plague this country.

I excluded the members of the Federal Reserve Board because that problem was created by the Congress. In 1913, Congress delegated its Constitutional duty to provide a sound currency to a federally chartered, but private, central bank.

I excluded all the special interests and lobbyists for a sound reason. They have no legal authority. They have no ability to coerce a senator, a congressman, or a President to do one cotton-picking thing. I don’t care if they offer a politician $1 million dollars in cash. The politician has the power to accept or reject it. No matter what the lobbyist promises, it is the legislator’s responsibility to determine how he votes.

Those 545 human beings spend much of their energy convincing you that what they did is not their fault. They cooperate in this common con regardless of party.

What separates a politician from a normal human being is an excessive amount of gall. No normal human being would have the gall of a Speaker, who stood up and criticized the President for creating deficits. The President can only propose a budget. He cannot force the Congress to accept it.

The Constitution, which is the supreme law of the land, gives sole responsibility to the House of Representatives for originating and approving appropriations and taxes. Who is the speaker of the House now? He is the leader of the majority party. He and fellow House members, not the President, can approve any budget they want. If the President vetoes it, they can pass it over his veto if they agree to.

It seems inconceivable to me that a nation of 300 million cannot replace 545 people who stand convicted — by present facts — of incompetence and irresponsibility. I can’t think of a single domestic problem that is not traceable directly to those 545 people. When you fully grasp the plain truth that 545 people exercise the power of the federal government, then it must follow that what exists is what they want to exist.

If the tax code is unfair, it’s because they want it unfair.

If the budget is in the red, it’s because they want it in the red.

If the Army & Marines are in Iraq and Afghanistan it’s because they want them in Iraq and Afghanistan …

If they do not receive social security but are on an elite retirement plan not available to the people, it’s because they want it that way.

There are no insoluble government problems.

Do not let these 545 people shift the blame to bureaucrats, whom they hire and whose jobs they can abolish; to lobbyists, whose gifts and advice they can reject; to regulators, to whom they give the power to regulate and from whom they can take this power. Above all, do not let them con you into the belief that there exists disembodied mystical forces like "the economy," "inflation," or "politics" that prevent them from doing what they take an oath to do.

Those 545 people, and they alone, are responsible.

They, and they alone, have the power.

They, and they alone, should be held accountable by the people who are their bosses.

Provided the voters have the gumption to manage their own employees…

We should vote all of them out of office and clean up their mess!

Charlie Reese is a former columnist of the Orlando Sentinel Newspaper.

What you do with this article now that you have read it… is up to you.
This might be funny if it weren’t so true.
Be sure to read all the way to the end:

Tax his land,
Tax his bed,
Tax the table,
At which he’s fed.

Tax his tractor,
Tax his mule,
Teach him taxes
Are the rule.

Tax his work,

Tax him if he
Tries to think.

Tax his cigars,
Tax his beers,
If he cries
Tax his tears.

Tax his car,
Tax his gas,
Find other ways
To tax his ass.

Tax all he has
Then let him know
That you won’t be done
Till he has no dough.

When he screams and hollers;
Then tax him some more,
Tax him till
He’s good and sore.

Then tax his coffin,
Tax his grave,
Tax the sod in
Which he’s laid…

Put these words
Upon his tomb,
‘Taxes drove me
to my doom…’

When he’s gone,
Do not relax,
Its time to apply
The inheritance tax.

Cheap & Easy Christianity

"Any of you who does not give up everything he has, cannot be My disciple." Luke 14:33 What does it cost to be a Christian? I grant freely that it costs little to be a mere outward Christian. A man has only to attend a place of worship on Sunday and to be tolerably moral during the week—and he has gone as far as thousands around him ever go in religion. All this is cheap and easy—it entails no self-denial or self-sacrifice. If this Christianity will take us to Heaven when we die, we must alter the description of the way of life and write, " Wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to Heaven!"

But it does cost something to be a real Christian according to the standard of the Bible. There are …

     Enemies to be overcome,

►     Battles to be fought,

►     Sacrifices to be made,

►    A culture to be forsaken,

►    A wilderness to be passed through,

►    A cross to be carried,

►    A race to be run.

Conversion is not putting a man in a soft armchair and taking him pleasantly to Heaven. It is the beginning of a mighty conflict in which it costs much to win the victory. Hence arises the unspeakable importance of "counting the cost." True Christianity will cost a man …

      His self-righteousness,

►      His sins,

      His love of ease, and

      The favor of the world.

A religion which costs nothing—is worth nothing! A cheap, easy Christianity, without a crass–will prove in the end a useless Christianity, without a crown! J.C. Ryle, "The Cost!"

"I charge you in the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, who will judge the living and the dead, and by his appearing and his kingly power: proclaim the word; be persistent whether it is convenient or inconvenient; convince, reprimand, encourage through all patience and teaching. For the time will come when people will not tolerate sound doctrine but, following their own desires and insatiable curiosity, will accumulate teachers and will stop listening to the truth and will be diverted to myths.

But you, be self-possessed in all circumstances; put up with hardship; perform the work of an evangelist; fulfill your ministry. For I am already being poured out like a libation, and the time of my departure is at hand. I have competed well; I have finished the race; I have kept the faith. From now on the crown of righteousness awaits me, which the Lord, the just judge, will award to me on that day, and not only to me, but to all who have longed for his appearance. Try to join me soon." 2 Tim 4:1-9

Democrat Strategist Attacks Stay-at-Home Mom Ann Romney

by Andrew Bair | | Abortion advocates have reached a new low in their attempts to characterize pro-life Republicans as waging a “war on women.”  On CNN, Democratic strategist Hilary Rosen told Anderson Cooper that Ann Romney, the wife of presumptive Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney, has no room to comment on women’s issues because she “has never actually worked a day in her life.” This ad hominem attack  on Ann Romney omits the fact that she is the mother of five boys and has battled both breast cancer and multiple sclerosis.

Ann Romney fired back on Twitter, writing, “I made a choice to stay home and raise five boys. Believe me, it was hard work.”

In the same interview, Rosen even had the audacity to claim Republicans were behind the Democratic “war on women” rhetoric.

Rosen said, “Well, first, can we just get rid of this word, “war on women”? The Obama campaign does not use it, President Obama does not use it—this is something that the Republicans are accusing people of using, but they’re actually the ones spreading it.” This flies in directly in the face of reality.

While it may be true that President Obama has not personally uttered the words “war on women,” his surrogates, allies and organizations from which he has accepted endorsements certainly do. A quick visit to the websites of Obama-supporting pro-abortion groups like EMILY’s List, Planned Parenthood and NARAL Pro-Choice America reveals that each of these groups features the “war on women” terminology, which Republicans supposedly coined.

President Obama recently took time out of his schedule to record a video message for Planned Parenthood, thanking them for their efforts. If Obama was so opposed to the “war on women” terminology why would he record a special message commending the organization that has used it in its publications, press releases and fundraising?

The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) has used the “war on women” rhetoric in its fundraising.  Leading pro-abortion members of Congress like Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and DNC Chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz have repeatedly employed the “war on women” rhetoric.
