Election Prayer 2016

Election Prayer 2016

Almighty God, Lord of Life and King of all Nations, we beg you to look kindly upon our country and help us to wisely choose our new leaders. Inform our consciences and enlighten our judgment, that we may elect those who will mercifully uphold justice and strive to protect the least among us. Help us to discern which candidates will uphold both the letter and spirit of the law. May our nation once again respect religious freedom, authentic marriage, the importance of family and the value of every human life – from conception to natural death. Heal the divisions which wound our unity and help us to overlook political tensions that keep us from becoming a united force for good. May our great land, built on both personal responsibility and charity towards the less fortunate, always balance prosperity with care for the elderly, the poor, the sick and the abandoned. May we elect honest and trustworthy candidates who will always uphold the common good and protect our God-given rights. In concert with the great founders of our nation, may we confidently proclaim, “In God we trust”. Amen. Continue reading

Illinois Bishops “Neutral” On Abortion

Illinois Bishops “Neutral” On Abortion

ProLifeCorner– 8-1-2016 – by Rockford Pro-Life Initiative – In a shocking Raunner 300xdevelopment the Illinois Conference of Catholic Bishops have declared themselves “neutral” on a controversial bill that would force pro-life medical professionals and pregnancy care centers to tell mothers about the “benefits” of abortion and give mothers information on where and how to end the life of her child in an abortion clinic.

Pro-lifers have worked very hard to defeat SB 1564 since it was passed in May but the Illinois Bishops, by taking a “neutral” position, have essentially sided with Planned Parenthood and the Illinois abortion lobby in criminalizing any medical professional or care center worker who refuses to send a mother to an abortion clinic. PDF This Link

SB 1564 also mandates that health care professionals and care centers tell mothers of the “benefits” of abortion. The Bishops statement says about this mandate,  we “Would rather not alter the law in any way.”  The Rockford Pro-Life Initiative is trying to figure out what the “benefits” are of the crushing of the skull, stopping the beating heart, and the brutal dismemberment of a little girl or boy in their mothers womb, but the Bishops of Illinois seem to have found something they find beneficial about this.

God Bless America

ProLifeCorner.com – Introduction by Frank J. Munda

Judi McLeod is an award-winning journalist from Canada and has over 30 years experience as a journalist. She recently did a piece for the Canada Free Press entitled Praying the ‘God Bless America’ Song.

When I was a young boy growing up in America the song that Judi refers to was made popular by Kate Smith. Many of our young readers today are not familiar with this popular song/prayer. These words were on the lips of many of us who lived through not only the Second World War, but Korea, Vietnam, and the countless other wars in the past.

At the end of Judi’s article I have embedded a film that was made the first time this magnificent song was presented to the public.

A heartfelt thank you to Judi McLeod for doing this piece

Religious Freedom / Pro-Life Rally Rockford Illinois

Religious Freedom / Pro-Life Rally Rockford Illinois

ProLifeCorner-  Rockford Il.-

On Monday June 13th, Christians from Winnebago County came together to pray outside of the Winnebago County Health Department that fired Pediatric Nurse Sandra Mendoza because of her refusal to refer mothers to abortion clinics.  This is another attack on religious freedom and human life by government officials who believe they are above the moral law.

This rally had four goals:

  1. It was a sign of faith, love, and trust by Christians in Jesus Christ.
  1. A show of support for Sandra Mendoza.
  1. It was an appeal through prayer and public witness to the Winnebago County Health Department to stop the immoral and deadly practice of sending mothers and children to abortion mills.
  1. A prayerful and public stand for religious freedom and against anti-Christian bigotry.

A novena is a series of prayers that are said for nine straight days, usually as a prayer of petition in times of great need. The nine days of prayer recall the nine days that the Apostles and the Blessed Virgin Mary spent in prayer between Ascension Thursday and Pentecost Sunday.

Day 1: Through the intercession of St. Francis of Assisi, we pray that the administration of Mayo/Franciscan Hospital will no longer place the lives of children and the health of mothers in danger by allowing doctors to inform mothers that abortion is an option Our Father…Hail Mary…Glory be…

Practical Prayer

Practical Prayer

Today I’m going to pretend

I have no other work but

To listen to your voice, O LORD

Your voice will come to me

Carried on the wind of peace,

That’s how I’ll know it’s You

Peace, beyond common understanding,

Will flood my being, as I do daily work

The work that I must do to comfort

My body: for food, for shelter, for identity

Among men: what I wear, what I drive,

Where I live – these are facts that interest

The people in the natural world, but where

I truly LIVE, in the Spirit with You, I am

Free, without cares, like a child You are

In charge and caring for me completely.

Amen

A letter from Jesus

A letter from Jesus

ProLifeCorner- A letter from Jesus

Dear Friend,

I just had to send a note to tell you how much I love you and care about you. I saw you yesterday as you were walking with your friends. I waited all day hoping you would want to talk with me also. As evening drew near, I gave you a sunset to close your day and a cool breeze to rest you. And I waited. But you never came. It hurt me but I still love you because I am your friend.

I saw you fall asleep last night and I longed to touch your brow. So, I spilled moonlight on your pillow and your face. Again I waited, wanting to rush down so that we could talk. I have so many gifts for you. But you awakened late the next day and rushed off to work. My tears were in the rain. Continue reading

Lord Jesus, Eternal High Priest, we worship You, our Head.

We thank You for our pastor who shares in Your one Priesthood, who acts in Your stead, and who is the instrument of bringing Your Presence to us.

Strengthen him, Lord, in times of trial, be his consolation in times of loneliness and give him the joy of seeing the fruits of his labors.

I will pray for him and assist him as I am able, for You bring many graces and blessings to me through him.
