Church Bulletin Inserts for 2024 |
The Pro-Life Corner started in 1985. At that time we prayed that the atrocity of abortion on demand in America would end quickly. The sad reality is babies are still dying from abortion. There are many reasons for this. However, the increase of promiscuity and the increased use of the so-called “pill”, which is an abortifacient, has caused thousands of abortions every day in America alone. Government sanctioned and taxpayer funding of Planned Parenthood is yet another part of this ongoing war on the unborn.
The darkness which has
descended upon not only
America, but the rest of the world, is a direct result of
abortion on demand
and the promotion of euthanasia.
God,
the
Creator of all life, will not be mocked.
We must continue to pray for an
end to all
abortion in our nation and the world.
Millions of unborn babies have only us to try to save
them. Pray
unceasingly.
JANUARY 7- What hypocrisy it is
to rejoice over the first baby born in the New Year in our
community and not to
mourn over the death of the estimated 65 million babies
who have died over the
past 50 New Years.
JANUARY
14- Help put God back into our lives: Promote His
Commandments; bring back
respect for all life from the womb to the tomb; strengthen
family structure
that is the basic unit of our society and bring
Judeo-Christian morals back
into our nation.
JANUARY
21-“The greatest gift of God, I would think, is the gift
of life. The
greatest sin of humans, it would
seem, would be to return the gift ungratefully and
unopened” Fr. John Powell
JANUARY
28-“I do not hesitate to proclaim before you and before
the world that all
human life-from the moment of conception and throughout
all subsequent stages-
is sacred, because human life is created in the image and
likeness of God…and
when God gives life, it is forever.” St. John Paul II
FEBRUARY
4- First abortion on demand, then infanticide, and now
fetal experimentation
and euthanasia: “We
are just
waking up to the old historical truth that the loss of God
is the beginning of
tyranny” Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen
FEBRUARY
11-“To sin by silence when they should protest makes
cowards of men.” Abraham
Lincoln Lord,
let us not be cowards; give
us the courage and wisdom necessary to stand up and fight
the evil of abortion
and euthanasia today.
FEBRUARY
18- “What do you think a human artist would feel if he
were working on a
masterpiece and someone came up and destroyed his artwork? Deliberate
destruction of an art object
expresses the lack of respect for both the artist and his
art. The
same attitude is expressed towards
God when man indiscriminately destroys human children that
God is forming in
the womb” John Ankerberg
FEBRUARY
25 – What “liberation” is there in the destruction of
one’s own child? What
“victory” for women’s rights has
been wrought doing such violence to the womb? What kind of “choice” is it really
when a woman’s
life-giving, procreative power is betrayed for the cost of
an abortion?
MARCH
3-“Human rights are not a privilege conferred by
government. They
are every human being’s
entitlement by virtue of his humanity.
The right to life does not depend, and must not be
declared to be
contingent on the pleasure of anyone else, not even a
parent or a
sovereign.” St.
Teresa of Calcutta
MARCH
10- “When two men are fighting in a forest and they are
attacked by a wild
beast they quickly become a united force against a common
danger. So
it should be today with Jews,
Protestants, and Catholics.
There
is a common enemy (Abortion).
“Therefore let there be a common front against a
common affront” Archbishop
Fulton J. Sheen.
MARCH
17-“America…You are the best in so many ways. But your best beauty, your richest
blessing is from the
human persons…the ultimate test of your greatness is the
way you treat every
human being, but especially the weakest and most
defenseless ones; the unborn,
the aged, and the handicap
St. John Paul II
MARCH
24-With the pro-abortion forces so deeply entrenched it is
sometimes easy to
feel like David confronting Goliath.
But like David, we must expose ourselves to the
dangers prayerfully and
trust in God totally so that God can bring about a
victory.
MARCH
31- Many of the people who are opposed to abortion have
been led to believe
they should not “impose” their morality on others. Think about this:
Legal abortion imposes someone’s morality upon the
little babies.
APRIL
7- The unborn child is created in the image of God. This child is God’s child and is
part of God’s world.
So the life of this child is not ours
to take. Therefore,
it is a sin to
take this child’s life for reasons whether of birth
control, gender selection,
convenience, or avoidance of embarrassment.
APRIL
14 -“Today the spirit of violence in our society is so
great that our children
are literally killing one another.
What else should we expect in a nation where
mothers have been granted
the spurious ‘right’ to kill their offspring at will…As
long as our courts
sanction murder in the womb we will be faced with the
consequences of violence
in our streets, schools, workplace, and homes.” Alan Keyes
APRIL
21- The ministry of the church involves far more than just
being against sin or
being “anti-abortion”.
The church
is pro-life in the fullest sense.
Our love is not just for those children yet to be
born, but also for the
mothers and fathers.
Our ministry
is to hold before all people the unconditional love of God
APRIL
28- The child conceived by rape is as much an innocent
victim as the mother;
surely to love and care for both innocent victims is far
more helpful to the
woman than forcing her to deal with the additional
violence and psychological
trauma of an abortion. Choose adoption not abortion.
MAY
5- Every human being is always unique and
unrepeatable-someone thought of from
eternity by God. In
the beginning
God created…me! The
days of my
life were recorded in God’s Book even before I was born. Thank you, Mom,
for not aborting me.
MAY
12-“The most important person on earth is a mother…She has
built something more
magnificent than any cathedral-a dwelling place for an
immortal soul, the tiny
perfection of her baby’s body.”
Joseph Cardinal
Mindzenty
MAY
19- Say a special prayer for women who have had abortions. Pray that these
mothers may come to
peace with God themselves and others involved in the
abortion decision.
MAY
26- When we give birth, we live with dreams of the future. When we abort,
we live with the
nightmares of the past.
JUNE
2-“Those who favor euthanasia (mercy killing), speak of
the ‘right to
die.’ No one
needs a right to die;
it’s a fact of life.
What they
really want is the right to kill.”
Nat. RTL
JUNE
9- Abortion-on-demand laws give to one person (the mother)
the legal right to
kill another (the baby) in order to solve the first
person’s so called ‘social
problem’…and we live in a civilized society?
JUNE
16- A dad has arms to lift
high, a heart to love,
shoulders to support, a smile to reassure, a hand of
blessing to send you out
into the world, a warm embrace to welcome you back
home. Let’s thank our
fathers today.
JUNE
23-“If we continue to define “quality of life” along the
lines of viability
then we are only a step away from killing
anyone in nursing homes, mental institutions, and
homes for the disabled
because they, too, could not survive very long without
great amounts of love,
support, nutrition, and care.”
Rev. Richard Seefried
JUNE
30- American’s national symbol, the bald eagle, is an
endangered species.
Its eggs are protected by federal law
with a $5000 fine issued for tampering or breaking one. America’s
future however, its children,
are not as protected.
Our
government has sanctioned and often times pay for their
deaths through abortion.
JULY
7- As people faithful to God, many of us see abortion as a
religious issue-it
is, however, primarily a civil rights issue. Our Constitution guarantees the
“right to life, liberty, and
the pursuit of happiness.”
It does
not exclude the unborn.
JULY
14-“More important than liberty, more important than the
pursuit of happiness,
more important than economics, and more important even
than religious freedom
is the question of life itself. If
we are deprived of life, then obviously all of our other
rights are gone as
well.” Dr.
D. James Kennedy
JULY
21- America: all the great causes that are yours today
will have meaning only
to the extent that you guarantee the right to life.” St. John Paul II
JULY
28- News shows and other programs refuse to show the
people of our country what
an abortion really looks like.
When something is so horrifying that we can’t stand
to look at it, why
are we tolerating it?
AUGUST
4- “It behooves us then to humble ourselves before the
offended Power, to
confess our national sins and pray for clemency and
forgiveness.” Abraham
Lincoln Abortion
and euthanasia have
become our national sin.
AUGUST
11- The reason we have abortion on demand in some states
in this land is
simple: Our
self-centered,
materialistic society has a wrong attitude towards our
children. After
all, children are our most
precious natural resource; they are our future.
AUGUST
18-“It’s been a decade and still my blood runs cold and I
catch my breath
whenever I hear the word ‘abortion’.
There’s emptiness inside me that can never be
filled, a chill that has
never quite been warmed, a grief that will never end.”
(Words of a mother who
chose to have an abortion.)
AUGUST
25- Caring for all people-unborn babies, children,
grandparents, begins with
us; being pro-life means caring for all life from
conception to natural death.
SEPTEMBER
1-“Abortion is no more a single issue than was slavery. It is instead a
defining issue-one
which shapes the future of the nation.
In some of our states the present legal policy of
abortion often permits
the killing of infants being delivered. This weakens the
social contract that
has kept this country together. To
cooperate willingly in evil is morally wrong, and these
present laws make us
all at least passive cooperators in the crime of abortion”
Cardinal Francis
George
SEPTEMBER
8-Give us the grace, when the sacredness of life before
birth is attacked, to
stand up and proclaim that no one ever has the authority
to destroy unborn
life. St.
John Paul II
SEPTEMBER
15- Some say that abortion will solve the social problem
of unwanted
children. To
solve social problems
should we kill the poor to end poverty; the homeless to
end homelessness; the
unemployed to end unemployment? Of course not! Then why do we tolerate the killing
of the unborn.
SEPTEMBER
22-“One death is a tragedy, but a million deaths is merely
a statistic.” Josef
Stalin. As a
nation have we come
to a Stalinist mind set?
Have we
become numb to this figure: over 65,000,000 babies have
been killed by abortion
in our nation since 1973?
God help
us to comprehend this national evil and take a position
against abortion.
SEPTEMBER
29--“Children must not be treated as a burden or
inconvenience but should be
cherished as bearers of hope and signs of promise for the
future.” St.John
Paul II
OCTOBER
6- Facts about the development
of a child from the moment of conception until birth need
to be taught to
everyone. If
we would take time to
learn the biological facts about life in the womb then, as
God’s people, we
could never tolerate abortion. No human authority, not
even the state, can
morally justify the killing of an innocent child. This tragic transformation of a
crime into a “right” is
characteristic of a collapsing civilization.
OCTOBER
13- There is a project, based on the thoughts of
Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen
that fights the culture of death with God’s weapon-prayer. It is called
spiritual adoption.
By spiritually adopting an unborn baby
and praying daily for that child, you can make a
difference.
OCTOBER
20- Abortion is not just an American problem, although
some 65 million
abortions have been done since 1973 and over 1,706,040,488
and counting have
been done worldwide since 1980. Is
it possible that one or more of these babies could have
grown up to find a cure
for cancer or some other malady?
OCTOBER
27- We were taught we would be judged for what we do and
what we fail to
do. To
remain silent about the
ongoing holocaust of abortion and euthanasia can be a sin
of omission. How
we spend our eternity is determined
by our actions, not tomorrow, but in the present. Ask yourself, how will I spend
eternity: Smoking
or non-smoking?
NOVEMBER
3-- “The pro-life movement must demand of all elected
officials and those who
will be campaigning for office in the future that they
recognize the grave
moral obligation to do everything within their power both
to stop the slaughter
of the innocent and to stop mouthing platitudes asserting
that anyone can
morally exercise the “choice” to kill an unborn baby. We
must restore sanity to
this land and rid ourselves of this frightening contempt
for the human person
that masquerades as ‘choice’ or ‘privacy’ or any other
political slogan.” Archbishop
John J. O’Connor
NOVEMBER
10- In the more than 10 years of the Viet Nam War, over
58,000 Americans were
killed; as a nation we still suffer the loss of that many
lives. And yet, in
the past 50 years we have lost over 65,000,000 lives due
to abortion.
NOVEMBER
17-To all our fellow citizens we say:
Abortion is an assault on human dignity, an act of
violence against both
mother and child and the whole human family. Legal protection for unborn life
must be restored in our
nation. NCCB
NOVEMBER
24- Abortion: “This
is not the
kind of issue that we simply agree to pray about or nod in
agreement that
that’s where I stand.
This calls
for action-the kind of action God will lead you to do…the
options are many”
Find out your option by joining the pro-life movement
today.
DECEMBER
1- Life is like a snowflake. Just
as every snowflake is different, every person is different
and
irreplaceable! We,
as Americans,
have allowed over 65,000,000 irreplaceable babies to be
destroyed through
abortion. Like
the melting snow of
springtime, our future generations are also disappearing.
DECEMBER
8- We are called to love.
We
practice it in turn by intervening to assist our brothers
and sisters in
need. Love,
therefore, fuels the
pro-life movement. Love
demands
that we act to save the babies and assist women to make
life-giving
choices. It
also demands that we
that we assist women who have had abortions to find
forgiveness, healing, and
peace.
DECEMBER
15- St. Teresa of Calcutta warned us that “in time they
will start killing
grown-up people, disabled people and so on. …If we can accept that a mother can
kill even her own child,
how can we tell other people not to kill one another?” And
now we are on the
threshold of euthanasia.
DECEMBER
29- There can be no peace on earth until there is peace in
the womb. Pray
to end abortion. Unborn babies
cannot speak, protest, picket, vote, or pray; they have no
voice but
yours. Defend
them from
abortion!
