On Friday January 22, an estimated 15 children died this morning at Rockford's abortion mill. Christians from throughout Rockford gathered for a day of prayer and penance at the Northern Illinois Woman's Center on the anniversary of the Roe V Wade decision that legalized the killing of children in the womb. At 7:00am the abortion mill security guard was outside boasting that "for 37 years you've done nothing." Every pro-lifer knows that we can do nothing on our own but with Christ, "all things are possible."
This morning at the "foot of the Cross" in Rockford well over 100 pro-life Christians showed up to pray in three shifts. The first at 7:30am, then 8:30am, and finally 9:30am. While these groups were praying sidewalk counselors were at the mill driveway offering help to mothers in need.
Yet, 15 children still died. We must always remember what our Lord said to St. Paul, "My grace is sufficient for you, for power is perfected in weakness." We are weak in the face of the vicious and murderous assault that takes place on the lives of children in the womb at the Rockford abortion mill. But when we realize our personal weakness and turn to Jesus Christ the mustard seed of our prayer, as Jesus promised, "though it is the smallest of all seeds, yet when it grows, it is the largest of trees."
At about 9:30am the mustard seeds prayer of every pro-life Christian in Rockford bore fruit. A car that pulled into the killing center parking lot parked in such a way that the young woman and man inside were looking at the many people in prayer. Sidewalk counselors shared with the young couple the truth about the child inside of the mother and the help available for them. Without ever getting out of there car mother, father, and child left the place where so many children have died in Rockford. This young family that had a scheduled appointment for one of it's members to be killed now because of the power of Jesus Christ were all alive and happy.
On this day in Rockford when we remembered the supreme court decision that has resulted in the deaths of 50,000 children in our city we had another example of the how when God's people humble themselves in prayer children's lives are saved and because of the grace of God the deaths of so many children are 'swallowed up in victory of Jesus Christ.”
On Wednesday January 27, An estimated 9 children died inside of Rockford's abortion mill. Through the grace of God and the presence of sidewalk counselors two mothers chose life this morning. After listening to a couple of sidewalk counslers a young mother was visibly happy and relievied she decided not to go through with the abortion. She as all mothers who speak with the sidewalk counselors, was offered a baby shower and any other help she may need.
With a rabid pro-abortion alderman and the Rockford city attorneys office doing all in their power to shut down any offers of help to mothers in need the two children saved from death this morning cleary show the importance of defeating the preposed death zone.
The mission of Rockford Pro-Life Initiative is to eliminate abortion in the Rockford area through Prayer, Fasting, Education and Personal Sacrifice.

Mother of Four Dies after Abortionist Severs Artery During Abortion
NEW YORK, NY, January 27, 2009 (LifeSiteNews.com) – Alexandra Nunez, a 37-year old single mother of four, died after a botched abortion Monday at the A-1 Women’s Center in New York City.
Police, who are continuing to investigate the death, said that the abortionist severed an artery during Nunez’s abortion, leading to massive bleeding and eventually cardiac arrest. Nunez was rushed to a nearby hospital where she died.
A-1 Women’s Center, located in a run-down building in a predominately Hispanic neighborhood of JacksonHeights, was only recently licensed in July of last year to do surgical procedures that required anesthesia. It is operated by abortionist Salomon Epstein, who has a long history of being protested by pro-life groups.
According to the NY Daily News an unidentified clinic worker told reporters that everything had “gone well” at the abortion clinic, which also doubles as a plastic surgery center. “Nothing happened here,” she said.
“Nothing happened there – except fatal injuries during a botched abortion which cost a woman her life,” said Operation Rescue President Troy Newman in response.
“It is so typical of abortion clinics to hide the truth, but this time, the truth is out,” he continued. “The clinic is under investigation, and we will be forwarding information about this tragedy to the New York State Medical Board and demand disciplinary action against the abortionist.”
Operation Rescue recently launched the Abortion Whistleblowers campaign, offering a $10,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of an abortionist who is breaking the law.
“We urge anyone working at A-1 Women’s Center to come forward and tell what they know in the interest of protecting other women from suffering Ms. Nunez’s fate,” said Newman.

40 Days for Life Lines up 156 Cities for Next Campaign
WASHINGTON, D.C., January 20, 2010 (LifeSiteNews.com) – 156 cities from coast to coast in the U.S. – plus four Canadian provinces and three Australian states – have stepped up to host 40 Days for Life campaigns during the next international campaign – which begins February 17 and runs through March 28.
“While many see a time of darkness this week as the United States marks the 37th anniversary of the Roe v. Wade Supreme Court ruling that imposed abortion on America, and as the U.S. Congress deliberates legislation that could lead to dramatic increases in taxpayer funding for abortion, I see a time of great hope,” said David Bereit, national director of 40 Days for Life.
“The fact is that even as proponents try to encourage more abortions – and as they try to encourage government funding of abortions – more women are realizing the truth about abortion and rejecting it as an option, and more people are simply saying ‘Enough!’ and taking a stand against these efforts to promote a culture of death.”
40 Days for Life consists of 40 days of prayer and fasting for an end to abortion, 40 days of constant, peaceful vigil outside abortion centers and Planned Parenthood offices and 40 days of active pro-life community outreach. The list of participating communities is posted online here.
The 40 Days for Life movement continues to grow. Thus far, five coordinated national 40 Days for Life campaigns have been conducted, twice each year, beginning in the fall of 2007. More than 300,000 people in some 280 cities have already taken part. Five abortion centers have closed following 40 Days for Life prayer vigils. Some 27 abortion industry employees have quit their jobs, including Abby Johnson, who left her position as director of a Planned Parenthood abortion center in Texas last October.
“And most incredibly,” Bereit said, “we are aware of 2,168 children – and their mothers – who were spared from the tragedy of abortion. And those are just the ones we know about. ”
The campaign dates of February 17 through March 28 coincide with the Christian season of Lent. “The Lenten season presents a call to sacrifice,” said Bereit, “and that is central to 40 Days for Life. Standing in prayer outside an abortion facility is indeed a sacrifice – particularly in northern locations where cold temperatures and snowy conditions are often part of the weather landscape in February. But people know their efforts have a profound impact, and so they overlook the inconvenience and their personal discomfort to stand in peaceful witness.”
Bereit and 40 Days for Life are key participants in the Stop the Abortion Mandate coalition that is rallying support around the United States for keeping taxpayer-funded abortion out of any Congressional healthcare measures. “Through the efforts of 40 Days for Life volunteers,” he said, “local campaigns will help to publicly reinforce the message – in 156 communities over the next couple of months – that abortion is not health care.”

Researcher: Abortion is $38.5 Trillion Drag on the Economy
MT. FREEDOM, NJ, January 20, 2010 (LifeSiteNews.com) – In its latest estimate on the economic impact of abortion, the Movement for a Better America is reporting that the abortion toll is projected to climb to a new high of 52,333,000 as of January 22, 2010, the 37th anniversary of Roe V. Wade.
The group also estimated that the economic impact has risen to $38.5 trillion in lost U.S. Gross Domestic Product (GDP) since 1970.
“This year alone, the impact involved another $2.45 trillion, or roughly equal to half the GDP of Germany and France combined,” said the Movement in a press release. MBA President Dennis Howard, who has been researching the economic impact of abortion since 1992, said, “The number of lives lost to surgical abortion has reached 17% of the total U.S. population of 307,000,000. So it’s not surprising that this year’s increase is equal to 17% of U.S. GDP.”
The estimates are based on average GDP per year since 1970 after abortion became legal in our largest states and the cumulative number of abortions. The estimates do not include babies lost to abortifacients and contraception because of the lack of public data. Said Howard: “However, the economic impact of these is similar to abortion. My guess is they would double the impact based on abortion alone.”
Howard has been warning since the mid-1990’s that the US faced a major financial crisis based on ongoing demographic trends. In 1997, he wrote: “I see little hope that we can avoid an eventual crash on Wall Street that will make the 1930’s looking like cashing in your cards after a bad game of Monopoly.”
He even gave percentages as to when a crash would occur. He wrote then: “I’d give it a 50% chance of happening by the year 2000, an 80%
chance by the year 2010, and a 100% chance of happening by 2020.”
Howard cited the collapse of the former Soviet Union as an example of the impact of demographics on economies. “The main reason for their collapse was internal – 300 abortions for every 100 live births for decades ... Right now, there are not enough younger women to reverse their population decline. They could lose another 40 million people by 2050.”
“Meanwhile,” he said, “the Muslim world is going in the other direction – with rates of natural increase 5 to 6 times higher than ours. They will own the second half of this Century unless we reverse course.”

Analysis Shows 52 Million Abortions Since Supreme Court's Roe v. Wade Decision
Washington, DC (LifeNews.com) -- Read any commentary on the contentious abortion debate and you'll likely find a wide variety of numbers attempting to estimate the number of abortions that have taken place since the Supreme Court's infamous Roe v. Wade abortion decision since 1973. Now, a new analysis from the National Right to Life Committee based on hard data and estimates for the most recent years finds 52 million unborn children have been killed in abortion since the Roe decision.
Any analysis of abortion stats and figures starts with the understanding that the Centers for Disease Control has never tabulated accurate numbers of abortions. The CDC relies on figures from state health departments, some of which rely on voluntary reporting -- and it hasn't had data from some states such as California and New Hampshire for more than a decade.
In its survey of abortion numbers, NRLC goes to the source by relying on the Guttmacher Institute, the former research arm of Planned Parenthood, which receives numbers directly from abortion centers themselves. Digging into the numbers, the NRLC analysis shows abortion numbers rising in the 1970s and, in the 1980s, abortion eventually mainstreamed itself to the point that about 1.55 million abortions were done annually until the early 1990s. To calculate the overall number of abortions, NRLC includes the hard figures from 1973-2005, the estimates for the last few years and also includes the Guttmacher Institute's admission that its own figures are likely about three percent lower than the actual totals because of potential errors in reporting. National Right to Life estimates that, as the nation marks the 37th anniversary of the Roe v. Wade decision, there have been 52,008,665 abortions using either surgical or the abortion drug (RU 486) method since Roe v. Wade.

March for Life Sees Pro-Life Americans Flood Nation's Capital to Oppose Abortion
Washington, DC (LifeNews.com) -- Americans of all ages and races flooded the nation's capital today for the annual March for Life to express their opposition to the destruction of more than 52 million unborn children. They carried a plethora of signs ranging from "Defend Life" to "Abortion is Not Health Care" to "Stop Abortion Now."
Congressman Chris Smith has long been regarded as the nation's top pro-life advocate on Capitol Hill and his speech was well-received. "For all of us, all human life is precious and sacred and in urgent need of protection. We welcome and deeply respect everyone including the weak, the vulnerable and the disenfranchised," he said. "We especially admire and honor the extraordinarily courageous post-abortive women who are silent no more. Their voice and witness show the path to reconciliation for all women who have been first deceived, then victimized by abortion," he added.
Cardinal Daniel N. DiNardo of Galveston-Houston, the head of the Catholic bishops Committee on Pro-Life Activities introduced some of his fellow pro-life bishops.
"Unfortunately, in our culture we have grown into the chains that bind us and hold us fast in a grip of deadly attitudes about human life, about the human person, especially in the moments of his or her beautiful but fragile beginnings and in those vulnerable times of old age and illness," he said.

Group Wants Probe of National Cancer Institute Abortion-Breast Cancer Coverup
Washington, DC (LifeNews.com) -- A women's group is asking Congress and the Obama administration to investigate the expose' showing how a top National Cancer Institute researcher recently admitted that abortion causes a 40% breast cancer increase risk but organizing a meeting to get the NCI to deny it. As LifeNews.com reported earlier this month, the main NCI activist who got the agency to deny the abortion-breast cancer link has co-authored a study admitting the abortion-breast cancer link is true, calling it a "known risk factor."The study, conducted by Jessica Dolle and NCI official Louise Brinton, appears in the April 2009 issue of the prestigious cancer epidemiology journal Cancer Epidemiology, Biomarkers and Prevention.
The Dolle study, conducted with Janet Daling of the FredHutchinsonCancerResearchCenter in Seattle, cited as accurate Daling's studies from 1994 and 1996 that showed between a 20 and 50 percent increased breast cancer risk for women having abortions compare to those who carried their pregnancies to term. Now, the Coalition on Abortion/Breast Cancer informed LifeNews.com today it is sending a letter, signed by doctors and pro-life organizations to President Obama and the leaders of Congress calling for an investigation of the U.S. National Cancer Institute.
