City Wants to Take Free Speech Rights Away
A Look at Who the City Wants to Take Free Speech Rights From
And a look at whom it will effect most
These are a few of the sidewalk counselors who stand in freezing weather, rain storms, and the heat of summer to offer help to mothers in need.We have two grandmothers, a grandfather, a mother hoping to adopt another child, and a Priest.
Over the years because of the efforts of loving people like these, hundreds of mothers have chosen life.
The young lady pictured below is just one mother of many who spoke with the Rockford sidewalk counselors and chose life. If the sidewalk counselors were not there this beautiful child would be dead today.

A Killing Bubble Zone
These are the men and women who, year in and year out, brave the cold and heat to be a testimony of Christ’s love towards the women contemplating an abortion. Look into their faces and see their love.
Sadly, some, not all, of our city officials have decided to declare war on these peaceful, prayerful sidewalk counselors. How? By branding them with the name of terrorists. Now some, but not all, of our city officials are trying to implement a killing zone.
The ironic thing is that it is the pro-life community who, for the past several years, who have repeatedly been the victims of verbal and physical attacks. We pro-lifers have the paper trail showing the unwillingness on the part of some city officials to enforce existing law in order to protect the pro-life community. Enforcement of the laws already on the books would protect every citizen, no matter whose side they’re on. To implement a bubble death zone, besides being an immoral law, would more than likely be declared illegal as well.
It would be a folly on the part of the city to create a law that will create more problems at the mill; for example, the pro-life community would challenge that law in court thus tying up an already financially strapped city.
We are looking for voices of reason to intervene. As stated before, if laws already on the books were equally enforced on the pro-abortion and pro-life community the majority of problems at the mill would go away.
No matter whose side you’re on or if you are undecided, it is your duty as a citizen to get informed and contact the mayor, city council, and city attorneys and respectfully ask them to enforce the existing laws on all parties. This would save the city an unwanted, expensive, and time consuming fight and also will maintain the constitutional rights of citizens to free speech and assembly.

I think the mother holding the "We want to adopt your baby" sign is the most dangerous. No maybe it the grandmother who is the most dangerous. The only thing these people scare is the check book of the abortionist.
So these are the people the
Fri, 01/29/2010 - 9:07am — Jean (not verified)So these are the people the nutty alderman want to take away the right to free speech from. Sad. Isn't she the same alderman who had a police officer order a prolifer leave the clinic area because she did not like his sign? What does she have against free speech?
Don’t you know that
Fri, 01/29/2010 - 12:33pm — Joseph (not verified)Don’t you know that alderman Elyea is a hippie wanna-be? You know the out-dated type from the 60’s. All the time yelling no censorship, free speech for all, we want the right to “choose”. HA! Have an opinion different than hers and look out!!!! She wants opinions as long as it’s the same as hers. She should open her mind to all the facts regarding the problems at the abortion clinic. And listen to all the people in her ward.
Those people want "choice"
Fri, 01/29/2010 - 2:15pm — From Durand (not verified)Those people want "choice" only if you choose what they want.
Congress shall make no law
Fri, 01/29/2010 - 2:22pm — Sharon (not verified)Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.
I think we need a reminder of this in Rockford - I don't see anything in this about standing 100ft or 8ft away to have free speech rights.
If our alderman votes for
Sat, 01/30/2010 - 9:45am — Rick & Ann (not verified)If our alderman votes for this bubble zone we will work night and day to see they lose their seat. This is a completely politically motivated law that stalls free speech rights and will result in more dead babies.
