Life Report for Feb 26 2008

      38 Baby’s are killed in our city this past week; A Great Video on Love; British Woman Committed Suicide After Abortion; Abortionist Who Killed 22-year-old Barred from U.S. Medical Practice; Mexico City Teen Dies From Legal Abortion; Display compares abortion, genocide; Catholic Diocese Wants Komen Ties Broken;

On Friday February 22, the abortion mill in Rockford IL. was closed.

On Saturday February 23, the abortion mill was open and 25 children were aborted. Sadly no one was there to pray or offer help to the mothers going in because we weren't aware they would be open on a Saturday. A pro-life neighbor of the abortion mill informed us that they were open and kept count of the cars. This is the first time that we know of they have been open on a Saturday. We will do our best to investigate this situation and try to find out what days the mill is open in the future.

On Tuesday February 26, thirteen children were aborted in Rockford IL. No known saves.
One car pulled in with a "proud parent of an honor student" bumper sticker. As the grandmother and mother walked into the mill to take the life of their child / grandchild both of them covered their faces. It is terribly sad they don't realize all of the worldly honors don't make a difference when we "choose" to destroy our own children.

Note: One of our faithful pro-lifers died last week after a fall on the ice. James Bernardi was a kind and humble man who dearly loved God, his family, and all of God's children. He will be greatly missed by us all. His funeral is on Tuesday Feb 21. Please keep him and his wife Camille and son David in your prayers.

British Woman Committed Suicide After Abortion of Twins Over Extreme Grief
London, England (LifeNews.com) -- A British court held a hearing yesterday on a case of a young 30-year-old woman who committed suicide after the abortion of her twin babies. Emma Beck left a suicide note and said she faced such an intense period of grief afterwards and regret over the deaths of the babies that she killed herself "to be with them."
The court heard testimony that Beck asked doctors for help prior to the abortion but that no one was able to meet with her and they gave her the number of a counseling service.
Officials went ahead with the abortion even though she said beforehand that she had second thoughts.
Weeks later, following the abortion, she hung herself at her home.
According to the London Daily Mail newspaper, the note she left read: "I should never have had an abortion. I see now I would have been a good mum. I told everyone I didn't want to do it, even at the hospital. I was frightened, now it is too late. I died when my babies died. I want to be with my babies - they need me, no-one else does."
The Daily Mail reported that Sylvia Beck, Emma's mother, told the court that Emma was never given a chance to see a counselor and only had the abortion because her boyfriend didn't support having the babies.
"I want to know why she was not given the opportunity to see a counselor," she said. "She was only going ahead with the abortion because Ben did not want the twins."
"I believe this is what led Emma to take her own life," beck added. "Because she could not live with what she had done."
News of the suicide comes weeks after a new study published in the journal
BMC Psychiatry which found that women who have abortions typically experience high levels of post-traumatic stress disorder. nat3730.html
The study appeared in the July 2007 issue of the professional psychological publication but it only received publicity recently.
The research involved 155 women from South Africa who had abortions and were evaluated one month and three months afterwards.
Approximately 20 percent of the women had post-traumatic stress disorder symptoms just one month later. The results led the authors to note that "high rates of
PTSD characterize women who have undergone voluntary pregnancy termination. Looking at the women three months after the abortion, the number of women experiencing the PTSD symptoms increased 61 percent.

Abortionist Who Killed 22-year-old Barred from U.S. Medical Practice
By John Connolly

HYANNIS, Massachusetts, February 21, 2008 (LifeSiteNews.com) - An abortionist responsible for the death of a 22-year-old woman permanently resigned his medical license in the United States on Wednesday.

Dr. Rapin Osathanondh, a gynecologist from Massachusetts, relinquished his medical license in an effort to avoid an investigation by the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Medicine. Osathanondh was responsible for the death of Laura Hope Smith, a 22-year-old woman who went to Osathanondh's clinic for an abortion on September 13, 2007.

Although early reports indicated that Laura Hope Smith died of hemorrhage from the abortion, her mother, Eileen Smith, contended otherwise.
"There was no bleeding," said Smith in an interview in September. "She stopped breathing and went into cardiac arrest."
The Massachusetts Board of Registration in Medicine confirmed Eileen Smith's claims, declaring the death due to "cardiac pulmonary arrest during anesthesia during a voluntary termination of pregnancy."

Osathanondh, according to reports, administered anesthesia without aid and while alone. Laura Hope smith died later that day, with Osathanondh marking her death up to hemorrhage. Eileen Smith never knew her daughter was pregnant until she received a phone call telling her that her daughter and grandchild were both dead.

"To say my world was rocked to its core is an understatement," she said. The Massachusetts Board of Registration in Medicine had already moved to revoke Osathanondh's medical license, calling him a "risk to public safety." In consequence of giving up his medical license, Osathanondh will never be permitted to practice medicine in any of the 50 states again. He still faces disciplinary action and a possible grand jury indictment.

Eileen has asked for prayers, and is glad that her efforts in the last five months have been fruitful. She never believed her daughter would have an abortion, and thought she was doing enough to combat it in raising her family in the Christian tradition.

"I believed if I lived my Christian life, preached the gospel, raised my children with Christian principles, that not only would abortion not touch my home, but we could make converts to Christianity and thereby lower the numbers," she said. "I was wrong on all counts."

Eileen Smith has vowed to spend the rest of her life battling abortion in memory of her daughter. She says that God "is the head of the pro-life movement and He will guide and direct and empower us if we but hear His voice and follow His heart."

Mexico City Teen Dies From Legal Abortion as Supreme Court Weighs New Law
Mexico City, Mexico (LifeNews.com) -- As the Mexico Supreme Court considers a legal challenge to a new law in Mexico City that allows abortions up to 12 weeks into pregnancy, new reports indicate a teenager has died from an abortion. A 15-year-old girl died after an abortion practitioner failed to properly treat her. According to the Mexico City daily newspaper El Universal, the girl, named Vianney, died on February 15 at Balbuena Hospital from a hemorrhage that occurred after a botched abortion. The newspaper indicated there have been 6,132 abortions in the 10 months since the capital's legislative assembly approved the abortion law last April. El Universal quoted officials from the Federal District Health Department saying Vianney was suffering from acute anemia when she arrived at the hospital. Health authorities indicated medical officials did nothing about the girl's condition and, when she began bleeding heavily form the abortion, her situation became grave. The newspaper also indicated that the abortion practitioner did not do an ultrasound beforehand and medical officials eventually learned Vianney was 16 weeks pregnant -- further along than the abortion practitioner realized or than the new law allowed.

Display compares abortion, genocide
      By LIA GANOSELLIS, Alligator Writer
Giant posters of bloody bodies on UF's Plaza of the Americas on Wednesday showed passersby and students pictures of what organizers called a new kind of genocide - abortion.

The Center for Bio-Ethical Reform, a national nonprofit education foundation, displayed images of aborted fetuses next to photos from the Holocaust and Rwandan genocide as part of its Genocide Awareness Project.
UF's Pro-Life Alliance sponsored the event. Mark Harrington, director of the Center for Bio-Ethical Reform, said his group has changed some minds with its presentations over the years.

At Florida State University, Harrington said one student said his views were changed within 10 minutes of seeing the abortion photos.

"What we're trying to do is plant the seed of thought," he said. "All this is is a picture of what's legal."

He said Adolf Hitler's persecution of the Jews was legal at the time. "There's a different motive, but the result is the same," he said.

Another Catholic Diocese Wants Komen Ties Broken Over Abortion Involvement
Little Rock, AR (LifeNews.com) --       Another Catholic Diocese has asked parishes and schools within its jurisdiction to break their ties with the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure because of its involvement with abortion. Komen has come under intense scrutiny over the years for making donations to Planned Parenthood, the nation's largest abortion business.
In this case, the Diocese of Little Rock is asking that Catholic groups there no longer support or fundraise for the breast cancer organization.
The decision could have significant financial effects for Komen as several Catholic churches and schools have hosted teams for the annual race, according to an Arkansas Catholic report.
The Respect Life Office issued a statement on February 4 explaining its decision. It said the diocese "acknowledges the beneficial work" of Komen. However, "due to its policy allowing affiliates to offer financial support to abortion providing facilities" and "the continued denial that abortion may well lead to the development of breast cancer, the Respect Life Apostolate neither supports nor encourages participation in activities that benefit Susan G. Komen for the Cure."
The diocese says its research found Komen affiliates in 22 states giving grants to Planned Parenthood abortion businesses for breast cancer screenings. Yet, it pointed out the irony that Planned Parenthood's 2004-2005 annual report showed 9,900 more abortions and 26,000 fewer breast exams. "Based on these documented facts, the Respect Life Apostolate does not endorse Susan G. Komen for the Cure," it concluded.
The pro-life office urged Catholics to contact Komen with their objections to its stand on abortion and its involvement with Planned Parenthood. It provided several listings for groups in Arkansas that help women with breast cancer issues but have no involvement in abortion.
In November 2006, the Phoenix, Arizona diocese asked parishioners to tell Komen to stop giving money to Planned Parenthood.
"Some will argue the grant is earmarked for areas other than abortion or contraception, so the affiliation between the organizations is inconsequential," Bishop Thomas J. Olmsted said of the Komen grants to Planned Parenthood.
"But the sad reality is that the grant money now frees up Planned Parenthood funds for those other areas opposing life and counter to our Catholic faith," he explained. In the Phoenix area, Komen, whose race netted it 40,000 people and $1.8 million, gave $25,000 to Parenthood of Central and Northern Arizona.
According to former Komen public relations director Kristin Kelly, Komen affiliates awarded $38.4 million in grants to support community outreach programs in 2003. That figure includes 21 grants to their local Planned Parenthood chapters totaling more than $475,000.
The grants prompted medical research analyst and Hispanic outreach director Eve Sanchez Silver to resign from her leadership position within Komen.
Silver eventually had a meeting with Komen officials about their grants and abortion's link with breast cancer.

"SGK officials did not appear to have knowledge of simple breast facts," Silver said in a statement LifeNews.com received.
Silver explained that the breast is an organ that is not mature at birth and SGK officials appeared to be surprised to learn that the breast does not become fully mature until after 32 weeks of pregnancy.
As a result of that state of development, interruption of pregnancy via an abortion before 32 weeks leaves breast cells exposed to estrogen, which is highly carcinogenic.
She indicated the Komen representatives also appeared to be "more concerned about assisting women after they had contracted breast cancer, than informing them to avoid breast cancer risk by avoiding abortions and having [an] early, full term pregnancy."
"This is an appalling lack of concern for the women the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation is supposed to be helping," Silver added.
