How to Defend the Christian Position On Abortion and Marriage

How to Defend the Christian Position On Abortion and Marriage

By Larry Plachno

Larry-150x1 blueAt a recent pro-life gathering it became obvious that while there are a good many people strongly supportive of the Christian position on abortion and marriage, they are not ready and willing to speak up and defend that position. Some are simply afraid to say anything for fear of confrontation or what others will say. Those willing to speak up often admit that they do not know what to say or do.

This is not the time for people to sit on the sidelines and observe. We need everyone out there working to support what we believe in. Sister Lucia dos Santos, the last Fatima seer, sent a letter to Cardinal Carlo Caffarra. In it she said: “The final battle between the Lord and the reign of Satan will be about marriage and the family. Don’t be afraid.” she added, “because anyone who works for the sanctity of marriage and the family will always be contended and opposed in every way, because this is the decisive issue.” Continue reading

Are We Responsible for Encouraging Abortions?

Are We Responsible for Encouraging Abortions?  By Larry Plachno

Larry-150x1 blueA recent discussion on interconnected social problems and the resulting polarization of our society brought forth the suggestion that many of us, including many of the Christians and Catholics reading this, may be responsible at least in part for abortions. While many pro-life people would deny this, I invite you to follow the logic with me and see what we find.

Our Polarized Society

It was the demographers that first publicized our polarized society and related interconnected social problems. They pointed out that in several major elections they could predict voting based the fertility level of a state or area. Those states with the highest fertility levels traditionally swung to the right and voted for conservative candidates and conservative issues while those states with the lowest fertility levels traditionally swung to the left and voted for liberal candidates and liberal issues. Two things are immediately noteworthy. One is that the basis for this is fertility level, which translates into bringing children into the world. The second thing to note is that this question on children tends to polarize our society into the right and the left. Continue reading

Are You Born Again? Are You Saved?

Are You Born Again? Are You saved?

ProLifeCorner – Frank Munda-  Many of us have heard, or used the terms “are you born again”, or “are you saved”, and “have you accepted Christ as your personal Lord and Savior”? When we hear these terms or even use them ourselves, do we really think about what it means?  If I had a group of Evangelicals, Lutherans, Pentecostals, Presbyterians, Catholics, etc. and ask the above questions, I more than likely would get different interpretations within each one of these groups. Christianity should not be a democracy where we get a consensus of the majority and therefore that is the truth, at least at that moment and within that particular group.

The purpose of this article is not to convert you, the reader, to any particular Christian belief. I do however believe that our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ intended for us to be one. The unfortunate reality is we are not “one”, and that is something that you, myself, or anyone else can possibly  change. That peace, that unity, can only come through the power of the Holy Spirit and I long for that day. In the meantime, through our brokenness, through our division, can we at least build upon what we do agree on? That is, we love the teachings of Jesus Christ and we want to build our lives around those teachings. Continue reading

See How They Love One Another  3-1-2014 – By Frank Munda- See how they love one another. To love one another should be the goal of all Christians. We Christians have worked together in the pro-life movement for over 40 years and have put aside our denominational differences so we could work in a unified way to save God’s babies.  Through God’s grace there have been many lives saved and many mothers saved from the very real presence of post abortion stress syndrome. Moving Forward, Not Backwards Oct 11 2013-  By Larry Plachno- Moving Beyond Abortion and Contraception. Recent developments suggesting that faithful Catholics need to expand their areas of concern have caused some confusion. Pope Francis did not say that abortion, contraception and sex outside of marriage are no longer sinful. What His Holiness did say is that we need to expand our efforts and concerns into other areas. One of the most appropriate comments came from Mary Eberstadt writing in the October 7, 2013 issue of Time Magazine who said: “Far from selling the beleagured faithful down the Tiber, this Pope is simply asking them to find bigger nets.” Continue reading

Now Is Not The Time For Tame Pro-Lifers

Rockford, Il – ( – 9-23-2013 – by Rockford Pro-Life Initiative – Let’s face it.  The media and those on the left in the Church are having their day by twisting the words of Pope Francis.  Those of us who are old enough to remember how the liberals verbally rewrote Vatican II, right under our very eyes, by saying “ this is what the spirit of Vatican II really says”.  Be on guard!  They are doing the same thing with the words of Pope Francis.  He has not changed Church teachings on life issues.  According to a report from he once called abortion a “death sentence” for the unborn and… Continue reading

Have We Lost the “Unum” in E Pluribus Unum?  by Larry Plachno-  One of the things that made America great was its diversity. However, going too far with diversity has caused America’s current problems.  It must have been fascinating to live during the time of the American Revolution and see a new nation being born. Little did our founding fathers realize just how big and how great that nation would become. And I suspect that our founding fathers would shed tears if they knew of the problems we have today.
