Guns have certainly been in the news lately. It seems like some type of violence connected to guns shows up every few days. My sympathies go out to all of the victims of this type of violence. If we all supported life from conception to grave we could eliminate much of this.
There are too many people who blame guns instead of the person holding the gun. The reason why our society is falling apart is because we have moved away from evaluating our actions and decisions as good and evil. People blame guns because they do not want to blame the shooter. Blaming the person holding the gun would admit that good and evil exist and that people should be responsible. And, if good and evil exist, then where do abortion, traditional marriage and supporting families stand in regard to good and evil? Continue reading →
A good friend who is also my Pastor is doing a series on “Living The Moral Life.” The article below is number 41 in this series. This particular talk is on gossip. I wish I could say that I have never been guilty of that particular sin. It seems that gossip today is more prevalent than it was when I was younger. Maybe that’s just selective remembering on my part. I think what I like so much about this article is Pastor Timothy Barr is not just giving us his opinion, he gives many biblical examples of why we should not be guilty of this particular sin. I know I am going to take this article close to my heart, and especially as we move into the Lenten season I am going to make more of an effort to hold my tongue. Please enjoy this article.
Living the Moral Life: Unforgiveness
A tell-tale sign that one has not forgiven is gossip. In fact, it produces unforgiveness in others. So not only does it condition the self to not forgive, but encourages others to fall into the same sin. It seems to be the favorite American pastime. But first, to help motivate us not to gossip, we need to understand why it is so wicked. Continue reading →
ProLifeCorner – Editor: We want to start off the New Year with another inspiring and educational article by one of the Pro Life Corner’s favorite authors, Larry Plachno. Larry has once again shown the pro-death crowd for the evil and disgusting group they are.
The Fallacies of Reasons for Abortion
By Larry Plachno
If you take the time to study the arguments in favor of abortion you will find that none of them can be applied to decisions and actions regarding either individuals or groups. They all have some type of fallacy be it faulty reasoning, a mistaken belief or a failure in logic.
Murder has been with us since the start of human history, as indicated by the story of Cain and Abel in Genesis. As our society gets older we would expect it to become more mature, more knowledgeable and more humane. It appears that the exact opposite is true. As predicted by the Blessed Virgin at Fatima, things have only gotten worse. The 20th century may well be remembered as the bloodiest in human history. While figures vary, sources indicate that the Soviets, the Communist Chinese and the Nazis together killed more than 116 million people during this past century and this figure does not include other, lesser, atrocities by other governments. ProLifeCorner.com – 7-23-2015 – In over thirty years of involvement in the pro-life movement, this article is one of the best we’ve read. It succinctly states what pro-lifers have known all along-that abortion has its roots in hell. The comparison of the tactics of the Nazi regime, the worldwide genocide taking place, and the destruction of families and women in particular is easily pointed out. Please take time to read and ponder upon this excellent summery of evil. Continue reading →
ProLifeCorner- By Larry Plachno- George Santayana, the famous philosopher, poet and novelist is credited with an observation that has often been repeated and modified. He said: “Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it.”
Historians and researchers are warning us that we have forgotten the past and have decided to go down the same road as the ancient civilizations of Greece and Rome before they fell apart. The people of both Greece and Rome accepted abortion and moved away from marriage prior to their demise. Unlike our current society, their leaders tried to halt this decline but failed. Abortion became a crime in ancient Athens but the situation in Rome became more complex.
Is Christianity a Religion, a Guide for a Better Society, or a Political Indicator?
ProLifeCorner- By Larry Plachno
Is Christianity a religion, a guide for a better society, or an indicator of political affiliation or leaning? The somewhat surprising answer is “all of the above.” In recent decades, researchers have found that the basic rules of Jesus Christ are endorsed and supported by reports and statistics surrounding social problems as a way to improve our society. Now, the researchers and demographers are also finding that Christianity can also be a major indicator of our political directions. This creates an unexpected link between church and state while adding a great deal of credibility to Christ’s teachings of nearly 2,000 years ago.
Christianity as a Guide for a Better Society
Christianity is based on the fact that God sent His Son to earth to suffer and die to atone for our sins. This tells us two things. One is that God is very concerned about good and evil. More sobering is the second obvious conclusion which is that some atonement is required for doing evil. Continue reading →
ProLifeCorner- By Larry Plachno- It could be that the reason why our society is falling apart is because we are asking the wrong questions.
There is a G.K. Chesterton quotation that is very appropriate right about now. He said “Jesus promised his disciples three things – that they would be completely fearless, absurdly happy, and in constant trouble.” So, the obvious question is when were you last in trouble over your stand on morals? Have you at least taken a stand that caused others to give you a funny look? If neither, then there is probably a pretty big chance that you are asking the wrong questions. Continue reading →
ProLifeCorner- Are you ready for the onslaught against good and evil In regard to abortion, marriage and family?
By Larry Plachno Anyone who has done any reading in this area is fully aware that our society has been involved in a fierce and very polarized battle for decades. On the one side are the people who believe in good and evil. On the other side are the people who believe in personal rights instead of good and evil.
I cannot stress strongly enough that the basic problem is whether we judge all of our actions and decisions as to whether they are good for others and society rather than what we want. The reason for this is because everything is interconnected. Demographers have shown that in recent presidential elections, states with the lowest fertility rates vote for liberal candidates and liberal issues while states with the highest fertility rates vote for conservative candidates and conservative candidates. As you become more liberal, your ideal family size gets smaller and you are less likely to be married. Abortion, marriage, family and politics are all interconnected whether we like it or not. ProLifeCorner.com- by Larry Plachno-At a recent meeting of Pro-Life people, a question was brought up. How do you respond to people who say: “If you don’t believe in abortion, then don’t have one.” This is a favorite comment of many liberals but it makes no sense when you sit down and look at it. Two good ways of responding include cafeteria morals and desensitization. Continue reading →
