Are We Asking the Wrong Questions?

ProLifeCorner-       By Larry Plachno-  It could be that the reason why our society is falling apart is because we are asking the wrong questions.

There is a G.K. Chesterton quotation that is very appropriate right about now. He said “Jesus promised his disciples three things – that they would be completely fearless, absurdly happy, and in constant trouble.” So, the obvious question is when were you last in trouble over your stand on morals? Have you at least taken a stand that caused others to give you a funny look? If neither, then there is probably a pretty big chance that you are asking the wrong questions. Continue reading

The Onslaught Against Life, Marriage and Family

ProLifeCorner- Are you ready for the onslaught against good and evil In regard to abortion, marriage and family?

By Larry Plachno  Anyone who has done any reading in this area is fully aware that our society has been involved in a fierce and very polarized battle for decades. On the one side are the people who believe in good and evil. On the other side are the people who believe in personal rights instead of good and evil.

I cannot stress strongly enough that the basic problem is whether we judge all of our actions and decisions as to whether they are good for others and society rather than what we want. The reason for this is because everything is interconnected. Demographers have shown that in recent presidential elections, states with the lowest fertility rates vote for liberal candidates and liberal issues while states with the highest fertility rates vote for conservative candidates and conservative candidates. As you become more liberal, your ideal family size gets smaller and you are less likely to be married. Abortion, marriage, family and politics are all interconnected whether we like it or not. What Is A Family?

ProLifeCorner.com-  The culture of death is attacking the family unit, now more than any other time in our history.

In today’s video we are asked what is a family?  The answers are in Holy Scripture.  In the family, each one of us have a responsibility to ourselves and the other family members. We are also shown how our families are part of the domestic church.  This is a call for us to be not only family but to be a holy family using Jesus, Mary, and Joseph as our examples of a true Holy Family. The Catholic Catch 22

ProLifeCorner.com-  By  Larry Plachno- Where should Catholics stand in a society polarized by marriage, family, children, fertility and moral relativism?

Those people researching interconnected social problems knew for years that our society was increasingly becoming polarized over marriage, family, children, fertility, and moral relativism. Now the demographers have come up with even more statistics causing even more concern. Demographer Ron Lesthaeghe showed that the results of our recent presidential election were largely based on state fertility rates. Continue reading

Jesus Is Coming!

ProLifeCorner.com-  From Our Pastor- First Sunday of Advent – This last week I saw in the news a video of two couples fighting while Christmas shopping. It made me stop to think, is that really honoring Jesus in Christmas? But then I thought, Jesus was the last person they were probably thinking of. When we look around us, we see the sitcoms; soaps and movies give their version of the “holiday season”. In fact, you will be lucky to hear anything about Jesus in the stores. The cash register person is afraid to say Merry Christmas to me as a priest! Continue reading
