About the Production: Vianney, a popular live production, filled with all of the elements of professional theater, a moving musical score, full theatrical lighting, and a video backdrop offering a full cast of characters, creating a fast-paced and engaging drama. More than 100,000 people have seen over 200 performances of this gripping drama, which began touring the U.S. as a part of the worldwide celebration of the Year for Priests. Since then it has been the centerpiece for celebrations in parishes, seminaries, universities, schools, and pastoral conventions. The response has been overwhelming – young men have felt the call to the priesthood, audiences have a new appreciation for the Sacraments, and thousands of priests have been renewed and encouraged in their priestly vocations. After years of devastating scandals and of attacks on the priesthood in the Catholic Church, a renewal and revival of respect for the role of the priests is needed all over the world. To reinvigorate and inspire fervent prayer for vocations and a new and deeper understanding of this most important calling, Benedict XVI chose the beloved Saint John Vianney as the model of all priests. The one-man drama Vianney is not only a perfect introduction to the saint, but is a riveting performance which gives a new and encouraging answer to the question, “What is a priest?” Continue reading

Awesome Woman’s Perspective

Awesome Woman’s Perspective

ProLifeCorner- Freeport Illinois- Below is a letter posted in the Freeport Journal Standard on April 7, 2017.  It is refreshing to see a letter that shows appreciation of the many hardworking men in society.  As she says, the recent “Women’s March” does not speak for all women and she has the courage to speak out about it.

Roger Nilles GoFundMe Campaign

Roger Nilles GoFundMe Campaign

ProLifeCorner- Freeport Il.- By Laraine Hruby-

Maybe a picture’s worth a thousand words, but first-hand experience is certainly worth more than a million! And it has been my good fortune to Roger Nilles 250xknow Roger and Louise and witness parts of their long history of working together to overcome many debilitating and sometimes life threatening health conditions.  Throughout it all, Louise works full-time and has been able to respond to the many ups and downs which require visits to doctors and ERs, stays in hospital and care centers, whatever it takes in order to treat and surmount conditions involving Roger’s lungs, heart, nervous and circulatory systems, and, most recently a vein collapse which resulted in the necessary amputation of Roger’s left leg above the knee.

And if I had to sum it all up in one word, I’d have to say “AMAZING!”

Yes, AMAZING, that in spite of all these health conditions, their life is not about trials and survival and focus on pains of the past, but about life and love and looking forward with grateful expectation to that special happiness that comes with love – the love of God and others. Medical Marijuana? Slow Down

ProLifeCorner-  Freeport Illinois-  By Fr. Timothy Barr-    I am sure we have all heard about the marijuana plantations going up all over in Illinois, and especially in Freeport. There seems to be a rush to get everything up and going, but maybe we should really look at what the effects of something like this will be. The Church does not teach that marijuana is an intrinsic evil, but it is a mind altering drug. It should be treated with great care. Continue reading

Come and See the Future Home of the Madonna Renewal Center

Pro Life Corner – Freeport, Il – 9-14-2014 – by Annarae

Freeport, Il has been blessed to have several Nigerian nuns from the order of the Sisters of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, Mother of Christ.  Their presence has been noted not only by their tireless work in the community, but also by their bright blue habits; many of us refer to them as our Blue nuns.  They are now working on a very special project that will help not only women, but the entire community as well.  They have already been teaching at the local Catholic schools, providing care at a local nursing center and many other spiritual and social services for our area.  They were given, for a meager sum, the old St. Francis Hospital building.

St. Francis Hospital closed its doors in the 1960’s, then the building was used for a home for exceptional children.  That operation closed several years ago and the five story building has stood vacant and had been slowly deteriorating. Continue reading
