Marriage, Annulments and Guidance

Marriage, Annulments and Guidance

By Larry Plachno

Larry-150x1 blue       Anyone watching what is going on in the Vatican is well aware that there have been some discussions recently over marriage and annulments. For the most part, both sides base their positions on the importance of marriage to our society, the sanctity of marriage in Christianity and the positive impact of marriage on children. Some of this is spilling over into other areas of Christianity and is increasingly becoming more public.

Some people will suggest that the starting point was “Amoris Laetitia,” Latin for “The Joy of Love,” from Pope Francis in early 2016. It was described as a Post-Synodal Apostolic Exhortation and was directed to both the clergy and the laity. While numerous items were covered, it mentioned simplifying the annulment process, bringing divorced and remarried Catholics back into the church and helping families. There was even some later comments of allowing bishops to handle annulments in a simple manner. Several members of the clergy and laity expressed concern over maintaining the sanctity of marriage.

Unfortunately, the situation can be complicated by people trying to drag in political correctness. I can try to explain what is going on but will step lightly through those areas where some people say that God and statistics are sexist. I will try my best not to take sides but to explain how modern reports and statistics are stressing the importance of marriage on both society and children. Continue reading

How to Defend the Christian Position On Abortion and Marriage

How to Defend the Christian Position On Abortion and Marriage

By Larry Plachno

Larry-150x1 blueAt a recent pro-life gathering it became obvious that while there are a good many people strongly supportive of the Christian position on abortion and marriage, they are not ready and willing to speak up and defend that position. Some are simply afraid to say anything for fear of confrontation or what others will say. Those willing to speak up often admit that they do not know what to say or do.

This is not the time for people to sit on the sidelines and observe. We need everyone out there working to support what we believe in. Sister Lucia dos Santos, the last Fatima seer, sent a letter to Cardinal Carlo Caffarra. In it she said: “The final battle between the Lord and the reign of Satan will be about marriage and the family. Don’t be afraid.” she added, “because anyone who works for the sanctity of marriage and the family will always be contended and opposed in every way, because this is the decisive issue.” Continue reading

The Rich Elite and Abortion

The Rich Elite and Abortion

 ProLifeCorne.com-   By Larry Plachno

In recent months we have seen authors and researchers mention a group Larry-150x1 bluesometimes known as the Rich Elite and how they influence our legislation, our thinking and our actions. However, very little has been written on how the Rich Elite impact marriage and abortion. Let me take a few minutes to explain how this group impacts our thinking and our lives.

The Rich Elite are not normally political leaders. They work in the background to influence legislation, influence our thinking and make money for themselves. The mainstream media is their stage but they work backstage to put on the show that you see. Their primary goal is to make more money for themselves, often at the expense of others.

The Rich Elite are apolitical and amoral. Voters file into a stadium to see the Democrat Team play the Republican Team. But the Rich Elite leave early with the ticket receipts and don’t care who wins. Murder, including abortion, does not stop them if money is to be made. It is impossible to determine how many people fit into this group since most of them are not public figures. While there are sex islands and various organizations, there is no one organization to which they belong.

Julan Assange from WikiLeaks has mentioned that it is this group that he works against. By making inside information public, he slows down the Rich Elite by making them think about where their communications are safe and where they are not. Continue reading

Marriage, Crime and Abortion

Seeking the Reason Behind our Polarized Society

By Larry Plachno

What do marriage, crime and abortion have in common? Actually, quite a lot if you Larry-150x1 blueare seeking the reasons behind our polarized American society.

For quite a number of years the demographers have known how our society is highly polarized when it comes to presidential elections. Red counties tend to believe in responsibility, religion and families. They are typically suburban or rural and usually vote for conservative candidates. Blue counties tend to believe in rights, and may have problems with crime and poverty. They typically have higher population densities and vote for liberal candidates.

This same situation again played out in the recent 2016 Clinton/Trump Presidential election. While there are exceptions, the red counties voting conservative and the blue counties voting liberal tended to fall into the same traditional patterns. What the demographers and researchers want to know is why? Why is it that on one side of the county line you have more income equality but the other side of the county line has rich and poor? Why is it that one side of the county line has more people going to church regularly while the other side of the county line has more crime? Why is it that one side of the county line supports responsibilities and families while the other side of the country line supports rights and abortion? Continue reading

Rights, Responsibilities and Population Density

Rights, Responsibilities and Population Density

Are we missing the basics?

   By Larry Plachno

There is an increasing concern among some demographers and researchers that conservatives, Christians and pro-life supporters may be winning a battle but losing the war. Many do not understand the real issues and reasons behind how social problems, actions and decisions are interconnected.

We live in interesting times. People in the past based decisions on traditions and the practices of previous generations. Today, we are lucky to have the advantage of decades of research into social problems as well as computer-generated statistics. In many cases this data is not only endorsing many of the old traditions but also giving us the reasons behind those decisions. If you give me a few minutes of your time I can walk you through the basics.

Our Polarized Society

While overly simplistic, it is not difficult to split our society into two groups based on a simple question. When faced with an action or decision that could impact others we have two alternatives. We can do what is best for other people and society or we can do what we want regardless of whom we hurt. One side is conservative while the other side is liberal. One side believes in responsibilities while the other side believes in rights. And, ultimately, and to a large extent, one side tends to match with red states and the other side tends to match with blue states. Continue reading

Are We Living in an Era of Heaven and Hell on Earth?

Are We Living in an Era of Heaven and Hell on Earth?

ProLifeCorner- By Larry Plachno

Larry-150x1 blue     The demography coming out of the recent 2016 Presidential election is suggesting that we are living in an era of Heaven and Hell on earth. This is bringing up several questions: What is the cause of why areas are different? Is Christianity more than just a religion? And how important is traditional marriage to society?

For many years now, the demographers have been telling us that you can predict elections based on an area’s fertility rate – effectively the interest in bringing children into our world. Areas with a high fertility rate tend to elect conservative candidates and vote for conservative issues. Areas with a low fertility rate tend to elect liberal candidates and vote for liberal issues.

In recent years these differences have become increasingly polarized and more sharply defined. For decades now, families have been moving out of the inner cities and into suburban and rural areas. At the same time, singles have moved into the big cities for education, employment or activities. The differences between the two areas have become increasingly obvious. Continue reading

Abortion, Civil War and a Modest Proposal

Abortion, Civil War and a Modest Proposal

ProLifeCorner-  By Larry Plachno

Whether we accept the fact or not, the reality is that the United States is in the Larry-150x1 bluemidst of an undeclared Civil War. One side believes in good and evil and life while the other side believes in choice and abortion. Huge amounts of time, energy and money are involved as the two sides battle each other in politics, legislation and morals.

Are we heading for a bloody civil war over abortion? More than 600,000 Americans lost their lives in the American Civil War fighting over slavery and whether it was right to set aside good and evil to declare groups as inferior. While our country has been involved in other wars, none of them matches the Civil War in the number of deaths. It was easily the most deadly and bloodiest war in our nation’s history and it took place on our own soil.

Even prior to the recent Presidential election there was substantial talk about our country being polarized into two different camps with abortion as a major difference between the two. While there are differences other than abortion, the killing of unborn babies has become a key point between the two sides, much like slavery. Following the election, these differences are again in the news and the possibility of a civil war has been mentioned numerous times. Continue reading

When is Abortion More Than Abortion?

When is Abortion More Than Abortion?

ProlifeCorner-  By Larry Plachno-

Larry-150x1 blue            There have been an increasing number of questions from conservatives regarding the liberal position on abortion. Why is it so important to them? Why do the liberals insist that abortion be funded with tax dollars? Why is abortion tied to marriage and church? And, why do liberals insist on killing a baby instead of allowing him or her to be adopted?

The answers to these questions all go back to the polarization of our society. For liberals, abortion is the “flagship” of their “fleet” of various positions supporting their liberal stand that decisions and actions should be determined by personal choice rather than by judging them as good or evil based on what is best for others. If abortion was eliminated, or at least judged from the standpoint of good and evil, it would seriously weaken the liberal position supporting choice over good and evil. If you give me a few minutes of your time, I will explain the background behind our polarized society and why abortion has emerged as a key point in this struggle. Continue reading

Abortion and the Second American Revolution

Abortion and the Second American Revolution

 ProLifeCorner-  By Larry Plachno

If you have not already figured it out, we are currently going through a very important Larry-150x1 bluetime in American history. Some have called it a Second American Revolution. The actual truth is that what is happening in the United States right now will affect both our country and much of the world for many years to come. Give me a few minutes of your time and I will try to give you some of the basics of what has happened, what is happening, and just how far-reaching it is.

Both in the United States and elsewhere in the world, the rich and the politicians have been trying to take over. Some have called it the “New World Order.” The rich have become richer and the poor have become poorer. They have been doing this by eliminating the middle class, eliminating jobs, eliminating marriage, eliminating babies and children, and eliminating respect for God and Jesus Christ. Continue reading

Are We Responsible for Encouraging Abortions?

Are We Responsible for Encouraging Abortions?

ProLifeCorner.com-  By Larry Plachno

Larry-150x1 blueA recent discussion on interconnected social problems and the resulting polarization of our society brought forth the suggestion that many of us, including many of the Christians and Catholics reading this, may be responsible at least in part for abortions. While many pro-life people would deny this, I invite you to follow the logic with me and see what we find.

Our Polarized Society

It was the demographers that first publicized our polarized society and related interconnected social problems. They pointed out that in several major elections they could predict voting based the fertility level of a state or area. Those states with the highest fertility levels traditionally swung to the right and voted for conservative candidates and conservative issues while those states with the lowest fertility levels traditionally swung to the left and voted for liberal candidates and liberal issues. Two things are immediately noteworthy. One is that the basis for this is fertility level, which translates into bringing children into the world. The second thing to note is that this question on children tends to polarize our society into the right and the left. Continue reading
