Maybe a picture’s worth a thousand words, but first-hand experience is certainly worth more than a million! And it has been my good fortune to know Roger and Louise and witness parts of their long history of working together to overcome many debilitating and sometimes life threatening health conditions. Throughout it all, Louise works full-time and has been able to respond to the many ups and downs which require visits to doctors and ERs, stays in hospital and care centers, whatever it takes in order to treat and surmount conditions involving Roger’s lungs, heart, nervous and circulatory systems, and, most recently a vein collapse which resulted in the necessary amputation of Roger’s left leg above the knee.
And if I had to sum it all up in one word, I’d have to say “AMAZING!”
Yes, AMAZING, that in spite of all these health conditions, their life is not about trials and survival and focus on pains of the past, but about life and love and looking forward with grateful expectation to that special happiness that comes with love – the love of God and others. ProLifeCorner- Freeport Illinois – Madonna Renewal Center in Freeport needs help this Saturday, Feb 6 2016, from 9:00-12:00 AM.
The Madonna Renewal Center is moving forward; mold and asbestos have been removed from the five story future home of the Madonna Renewal Center.
Project leader for the Madonna Renewal Center (MRC) Roger L. Kampmier had this to say. “As of this time we have removed a lot of metal from the walls of our building, but the number of volunteers turning out to help has been low. Please see if you can spare some time for the Lords work.” Roger further stated “We will provide dust masks for those coming to help. Please bring gloves for your hands to protect against cuts while moving metal to the staging area. I will need some of the men attending to bring crow bars and Saws-All’s to finish the remaining metal removal that is needed. We have basically finished the first floor to the third floor and still have metal to demo out for the fourth and fifth floors. Continue reading →
ProLifeCorner- – Freeport, Il – It’s here! For several weeks we have been waiting for a special car to arrive so we can present it to everyone. That day has arrived!
First let’s get a little background to let you know why all of us involved with the Madonna Renewal Center (MRC) are so excited about this car. After all, a car is just a car-right? Wrong! This car is a vintage automobile donated to the Sisters of the Immaculate Heart of Mary so they can raffle it off. This will mean a wonderful contribution to the restoration of the Madonna Renewal Center. The donor wishes to remain anonymous so we respect his/her wishes and can only say “Thank you and God bless you” whoever you may be. Continue reading →
ProLifeCorner- Freeport, Il – by Annarae – On Tuesday, February 17, over two hundred people braved the icy cold winds to enjoy good food, fellowship, and to help a worthy cause, the renovation of the former St. Francis Hospital. This event was held in the lovely facilities of the First Lutheran Church in Freeport. We are grateful to Pastor Keith Johnson and to the First Lutheran Church community for allowing us to use their facilities, not only for this event but for graciously allowing the Sisters and the various committees to hold their monthly meetings there.
The Sisters of the Immaculate Heart of Mary (IHM), our “Blue Nuns” held a spaghetti dinner to raise funds for their project, the Madonna Renewal Center, which will be a place of healing and hope to women. To say this event was a success would be an understatement! A steady stream of hungry folks kept all the volunteer kitchen crew busy the entire time. Everyone raved about how wonderful everything tasted and many asked when the next dinner would be held. Spaghetti, meat balls or sauce, salad with a tasty Italian style dressing, garlic bread and a beverage made a filling and oh, so enjoyable meal, or perhaps I should say feast. This was all topped off with an array of desserts that filled over two long tables from which one could pick a generous portion of cakes, cookies, or pies. Trust me, no one went away hungry!
