Numerous people are confused and are asking question about the forthcoming new annulment procedures. Much of this is due to the misinformation put out by the secular media who really do not understand what they are talking about and presumably do not care what they say. While the new procedures do not go into effect until late this year, and a lot still needs to be done on the local levels, here is some of the basics about what is going on.
First and foremost, the Church is not changing any rules, requirements and regulations on marriage in spite of what you might read in the secular newspapers. What is changing are the procedures for obtaining a “decree of nullity,” commonly known as an annulment. This does not change any of the requirements for the validity of a Catholic marriage nor the reasons for obtaining a degree of nullity. But the new procedures will make the process faster, simpler and possibly less expensive. Continue reading →
An increasing number of researchers, leaders and others are concerned about the crisis of declining marriage and how it negatively impacts our society. Religious leaders have taken a greater interest in promoting marriage. In recent weeks Pope Francis has made the importance of marriage the subject of some of his weekly audiences. Researchers are pointing out increased social problems and costs caused by the lack of marriage. And, historians are warning us that a lack of marriage and the resulting negative impact on society preceded the fall of the Greek and Roman civilizations.
What the researchers have learned is that the answers to our problems have already been given to us by God and Jesus Christ. We just have not been smart enough to listen to Their wisdom. Continue reading →

ProLifeCorner.com-by Larry Plachno-In recent months we have seen an increasing emphasis on traditional marriage by our religious leaders. Bishop David Malloy of Rockford recently merged the diocese Family Life and Pro-Life offices into one office to be known as the Life and Family Evangelization (LiFE) Office. His Excellency mentioned that we have made some progress on Pro-Life issues but suggested that we needed to put more work in on marriage. Continue reading →
ProLifeCorner.com- By Bill Donohue comments on a homily given yesterday by Pope Francis:
It happened to the Jews, and it is happening to us, Pope Francis said. He was talking about what happens when a people become deracinated, when they lose their religious moorings. Citing the Book of Maccabees, the pope mentioned how the Jews tried to regain their cultural and religious identity after Antiochus IV Epiphanes sought to deny them their heritage. It is happening to Christians today, he said, many of whom have traded allegiance to God for worldly ends. Continue reading →

Rockford, Il – (Rockford Pro-Life Initiative) – 10-11-13 – When Pope Francis accused Pro-Lifer’s of being “obsessed” with moral issues like contraception, homosexuality, and abortion the Board of Directors of the Rockford Pro-Life Initiative did some soul searching. We realized we are in some ways “obsessed” with saving babies from being murdered by abortion and helping mothers who are being harmed by the culture of death.
Even though this “obsession” with saving babies from death and helping mothers played a part in the closing of Rockford’s demonic abortion mill our Board of Directors decided the Rock Pro-life Initiative should do an act of penance for being “obsessed” with helping people in need. Actually, if one were to read the transcripts, you would find a great balance of truth in teaching the same truths the Church always taught and the love that Christ and the saints have always expressed. September 23, 2013- Bill Donohue discusses the way the left is responding to Pope Francis:
If ever there were any doubt that the Catholic left and the secular left have much in common, it is doubted no more. Consider that Jane Fonda tweeted this weekend that Pope Francis “hates dogma,” and that today we learned from Fordham theologian Michael Peppard that while the pope “is a lover of traditional prayers and books,” the “old Q-and-A Baltimore Catechism is not among them.” Of course, neither quoted the pope as making these comments, and that’s because he never did.
