ProLifeCorner-By Larry Plachno- It was 150 years ago, on April 9, 1865, that General Robert E. Lee surrendered to Lieutenant General Ulysses S. Grant at Appomattox Court House, Virginia after finding his troops surrounded and outnumbered. This ended the Civil War. Or did it? Some people suggest that this same battle continues today in other forms.
Many people will acknowledge that the bloody battle was fought over whether people could declare a group to be inferior or less than human. Slavery was legal in the early days of the United States of America. The 1787 Constitutional Convention witnessed the famous “Three-fifths Compromise” whereby slaves would be counted as only three-fifths of a person for determining representation and taxation. Nikita Krushchev, Stalin’s successor, brought back legalized abortion in 1955. Three years later, in 1958, there were five million abortion in the Soviet Union. In 1970, Russia had 3,000 abortion doctors performing 7.2 million abortions annually. In the 1980s, Soviet citizens accounted for 5-6% of the world’s population but 25% of the world’s abortions. ProLifeCorner.com- 2/26/2013- By Frank Munda- Memoirs of the Communist Infiltration Into the Church by Marie Carré I just completed reading for the second time a short little book with an even a shorter title, “AA 1025”. The first time I read this book was well over 20 years ago and although I found the book disturbing, it somehow did not register all that clearly with me at that time. We all know how smart we can be when we look back with that so-called 20/20 hindsight. With hindsight, all of a sudden things are very, very clear. We know that Holy Mother Church has been under attack by many groups, organizations and the media in general, especially for the last 50 years. Some may feel that these attacks are random, others might feel that because the Church has the courage to speak out against sin in the world, that is why the Church is under attack. Continue reading →
