Because one of out of every three mouthfuls of food you eat are because of the hard work of the bee. From the blue­berry bogs of Maine to the almond orchards of California, bees are the unsung, unpaid laborers of American agriculture. Honeybees are the glue that holds our agricultural system together, as they pollinate the seeds that ripen into our apples, cucumbers, cranberries, and many other fruits and vegetables in our diet. Novena For A Change Of Heart At Mayo/Franciscan Hospital

A novena is a series of prayers that are said for nine straight days, usually as a prayer of petition in times of great need. The nine days of prayer recall the nine days that the Apostles and the Blessed Virgin Mary spent in prayer between Ascension Thursday and Pentecost Sunday.

Day 1: Through the intercession of St. Francis of Assisi, we pray that the administration of Mayo/Franciscan Hospital will no longer place the lives of children and the health of mothers in danger by allowing doctors to inform mothers that abortion is an option Our Father…Hail Mary…Glory be…

The Light of Glory

 “While Jesus was praying, his face changed in appearance and his clothing became dazzling white.”

A woman who had never seen the ocean before went on a cruise.  On the voyage she was captivated by the variety of colors she saw in different parts of the ocean — azure, turquoise, aquamarine, emerald.   She collected samples of each hue in small bottles.

When she returned home, she wanted to show her friends the magnificent colors she had seen.   But when she poured the contents of each bottle into separate glasses to show them, she was shocked to see that all they contained was water — colorless, translucent, ordinary water. Continue reading
