ProLifeCorner- Freeport Illinois – The Feast of Corpus Christi (Body of Christ) celebrates the belief in the Body and Blood of Jesus Christ and His Real Presence in the Eucharist. After Mass was celebrated by Father Timothy Barr and Deacon Paul Ranney, there was a procession escorted by the Knights of Columbus and some parishioners of St. Joseph and St. Mary’s parishes, and the Sisters of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, Mother of Christ.
This group of worshipers proceeded from St. Joseph’s church, traveled up Galena Street and turned easterly up Pleasant Street until they arrived at State Street and turned to arrive at St. Mary’s parish. It’s the time we remember that Christ, our Savior, died for us on Good Friday to rise 3 days later to bring hope and salvation to all mankind. If we could approach Confucius and ask if he could save us, he would tell us that he is a philosopher, not a savior. If we could ask Mohammed if he is a savior, he would say that he is a prophet, not a redeemer. If we were to ask Buddha, he would say, “No, save yourself by attaining that spiritual state called ‘Nirvana’, where you lose all consciousness of self.
