Special Prayer On August 17, for Peace in Iraq

WASHINGTON – Bishop Pates, the chairman of the Committee of International Justice and Peace of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) asked the U.S. bishops to invite the people of their dioceses to pray for peace in Iraq on Sunday, August 17.

Bishop Pates recounted the struggles of Christians and others in Iraq who have faced the destruction, burning and looting of churches, homes and businesses and, under threat of the Islamic State (ISIS) to join their extremist brand of Islam, have fled for their lives. Accordingly, he urged Catholics to let their elected representatives know of their concern that humanitarian assistance reach Christian and other religious minorities who are suffering in Iraq, Syria and other countries. Why ACLU is Suing USCCB

In 2010, a pregnant woman went to a Catholic hospital after her water broke. She later claimed that she was never appraised of possible dangers to her health, and the option of choosing an abortion. The ACLU is suing the USCCB because it says the bishops’ conference is responsible for the Michigan hospital’s decision not to discuss the abortion option. The baby died shortly after birth. National Catholic Reporter Declared Heretical, Poisonous, and NOT Catholic By Former Bishop.

Update: Editors comment: We recently presented this article on the National Catholic Reporter and its heretical ways.  We included in this article a statement written by the late Bishop Helmsing back in 1968.  We should have included some background information on the Bishop; our Lord called Bishop Helmsing home in 1977 but the truth in his statement still holds today.  It was our intention to share this information with our readers and then have them contact the Catholic News Service and Catholic Relief Services and ask them to cease promoting the National Catholic Reporter on their social network and websites.
