The feast of Corpus Christi 2015

ProLifeCorner- Freeport Illinois – The Feast of Corpus Christi (Body of Christ) celebrates the belief in the Body and Blood of Jesus Christ and His Real Presence in the Eucharist. After Mass was celebrated by Father Timothy Barr and Deacon Paul Ranney, there was a procession escorted by the Knights of Columbus and some parishioners of St. Joseph and St. Mary’s parishes, and the Sisters of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, Mother of Christ.

This group of worshipers proceeded from St. Joseph’s church, traveled up Galena Street and turned easterly up Pleasant Street until they arrived at State Street and turned to arrive at St. Mary’s parish. There they celebrated a brief Benediction honoring our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

The Creator of the universe loved you so much that He sent His only begotten Son down to earth to die for you and for me, to redeem us from our sins.  He rose from the dead, ascended into heaven and then, according to His Word, sent the Paraclete, the Holy Spirit, who will guide us and lead us until the end of time. Jesus kept his word by fulfilling this statement, He who eats my flesh and drinks my blood will have eternal life;  this occurs at every sacrifice of the Mass.

The Feast of Corpus Christi is a special day when we proudly proclaim our love for Jesus by processing through the streets of our local communities, proclaiming that Jesus is our King and center of our lives.  This is what occurred last Sunday when the people of our faith community processed from St. Joseph’s to St. Mary’s Church, proudly proclaiming to the world that Jesus is our Lord and Savior, that Jesus is the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords. It is our sincere desire that you enjoy seeing this video and the love that we have for our Lord and Savior.

  1. The prayer at the end of this video is part of a hymn in Latin composed by St. Thomas Aquinas which translated declares:
    “Down in adoration falling,
    Lo the sacred Host we hail;
    Lo, o’er ancient forms departing
    Newer rites of grace prevail;
    Faith for all defects supplying
    Where the feeble senses fail.
    To the everlasting Father,
    And the Son who reigns on high,
    With the Holy Spirit proceeding
    Forth fro each eternally,
    Be salvation, honor, blessing,
    Might, and endless majesty. Amen”

    We are fortunate to have the necessary combined talents here in this community of those who can create this video. Thank you.
